REVIEW: Tasmanian Tiger Multipurpose Equipment Insert
10/20/2022By SPARTANAT crew

What do camera equipment, drones, ballistic helmets, and night vision devices have in common? They all need to be well-padded during transportation to prevent them from breaking prematurely. This is exactly what you can achieve with the Tasmanian Tiger Multipurpose Equipment Insert. A well-padded home for your sensitive equipment.

The Multipurpose Equipment Insert is not just a velcro insert, but a bag in its own right, measuring approximately 40 x 31 x 15 cm with an empty weight of around 1.3 kg. Covered on the outside with velcro and MOLLE velcro surfaces, it also feels comfortable in a backpack or gear case.

In the video from Tasmanian Tiger, all the advantages of this padded, internally modular bag are very well explained.

In addition to MOLLE velcro, there is also a zippered compartment for documents on the outside. An A5 sheet fits in easily.

On the side, there is a large velcro strip. This is used to attach the Multipurpose Equipment Insert in a backpack.

There are also the same velcro strips on the back. If you don't need them, you can simply remove the hook side, revealing the loop velcro underneath. In the end, these are hook and loop adapters.

There are also D-rings on the sides. This allows the Multipurpose Equipment Insert to be used as a shoulder bag, with a suitable shoulder strap that you have to provide yourself.

There is also a top opening on the Multipurpose Equipment Insert with a size of approximately 20 x 11 cm.

Through this opening, you can access the interior. In our case, there is a PVS-14 readily available here, but depending on how you configure the interior, it could be something else.

Inside

When the two-way zipper is opened, the Multipurpose Equipment Insert can be unfolded. In the upper area, you can see the PVS-14 from before, below that a ballistic helmet, and in between, the padded dividers. Here, we have configured the Multipurpose Equipment Insert as a helmet and night vision transport bag for testing purposes.

Thanks to the compartments, safety glasses and other accessories also find a good place. On the left side, you can see a light-grey pocket.

This bag is included in the delivery and offers enough space for various small items. Whether it's batteries, memory cards, USB sticks, or whatever else.

The zipper can be completely opened and unhooked.

So it can be removed. Here you can see the Multipurpose Equipment Insert completely empty. Velcro all around and velcro and MOLLE velcro at the bottom. So you can also attach various bags for more organization.

The lid offers three zipped, transparent compartments, with the two lower ones having additional transparent divisions. This way, you can always see quite well what is where.

The entire delivery of the Multipurpose Equipment Insert laid out. The glow stick is not included, it just feels at home in the insert. Here you get a lot of padded dividers and rubber bands. So you can adjust the interior almost perfectly to your needs.

Application

Here we have designed the Multipurpose Equipment Insert as a transport bag for our drone. It has pretty much everything you need for tactical use. If you want to know more, you can find all the essential information in our book.

For tactical use, you can never have enough batteries, but really not for anything else either.

The Mavic Mini fits easily, but larger drones can also easily fit into the Multipurpose Equipment Insert.

Diverse cable accessories and spare parts should never be missing.

The Multipurpose Equipment Insert is also a great idea in large transport cases. It doesn't always have to be the backpack.

Speaking of backpacks, the Multipurpose Equipment Insert is intended for the Tasmanian Tiger Modular Pack 45+ and fits perfectly in these.

There is even some room to spare. You have about 15 cm available for a jacket or similar. The rest of the content is accommodated in the Multipurpose Equipment Insert.

But if you don't want to run around with a 45-liter backpack, here's the good news. The Multipurpose Equipment Insert also fits in the popular Modular Pack 30. It's a tight fit and might require some squeezing and cursing, but it works.

The insert is in there, but nothing else fits anymore, but at least it's in. In backpacks under 30 liters, you have little chance of fitting the Multipurpose Equipment Insert. The larger the container, the better.

CONCLUSION: The Multipurpose Equipment Insert provides a safe haven for your fragile equipment. As a mere organizational element, it might be a bit too much, but when extra padding is needed, it's a great asset. Overall, the Multipurpose Equipment Insert is a very well-thought-out piece that leaves nothing to be desired.
