REVIEW: Tasmanian Tiger Modular Trooper Pack

03/01/2021By SPARTANAT crew

The Modular Trooper Pack from TASMANIAN TIGER will make the heart of any infantryman who is often on foot in the great outdoors beat faster. Everything you need and super comfortable to carry. Find out more about it in all the details right here.

The Modular Trooper Pack measures 62 x 34 x 19 cm and offers a total pack volume of 55 liters. The empty weight is approximately 2.75 kg and, like most backpacks from TASMANIAN TIGER, is made of sturdy 700D Cordura.

We find the height of the backpack to be well chosen, allowing you to easily tilt your head back without restricting your freedom of movement. The Modular Trooper Pack has a slip-in compartment for water bottles or similar items on both sides.

The carrying system is solidly executed and can also be worn comfortably with a vest underneath.

The hip belt ensures a stable fit during movement and relieves the wearer's hips, what more could you want?

Correct, a chest strap to position the shoulder straps optimally. In the Modular Trooper Pack, the chest strap, like everything else on the backpack, is very well made.

The shoulder straps are padded about 2 cm thick. This allows larger loads to be carried comfortably without creating uncomfortable pressure points.

The tilt of the Modular Trooper Pack can also be adjusted. This allows you to find the perfect carrying feel.

Since the Modular Trooper Pack with its 55 liters can get heavy, the V2 Plus carrying system was chosen. A very good and well thought out system, in our opinion, that we have come to appreciate in other excellent backpacks from TASMANIAN TIGER.

Advantage: it is very flexible and can be adapted to the size of the wearer. The attachment point of the shoulder straps can be easily adjusted in height.

Whoever wants can remove the hip belt. To do this, you just need to detach the lower padding …

… and the hip belt can be pulled down. In the picture you can see the aluminum support bars of the Modular Trooper Packs, which provide the necessary stiffness.

The bars are then simply stowed into the designated Velcro compartments. This way they keep your Modular Trooper Pack stable.

The hip belt can be used as a battle belt and is surrounded by laser-cut PALS, eagerly waiting for your MOLLE pouches.

A sturdy carrying handle should never be missing.

On the underside you will find two straps with MOLLE loops. Here you can attach your sleeping mat or other gear with packing straps to the Modular Trooper Pack. There's always something to attach ...

Also on the underside you will find a small zipper, behind which is the compartment for the included rain cover. The rain cover is secured against loss with a small carabiner. Always having rain protection with you is super practical.

But now to the storage space of the Modular Trooper Pack. On the one hand, we have the upper pocket, the lid compartment with around 2 liters of storage space and dimensions of 28 x 23 x 4 cm. Laser-cut PALS is of course also available, as well as a small Velcro area. Here with our SPARTANAT Antiterror patch - find it HERE.

Inside the lid compartment you will find the classic and practical organization, as seen on many other TASMANIAN TIGER backpack models. Here now with the new transparent material instead of mesh fabric.

Below the lid compartment is the approximately 8-liter front pocket positioned with dimensions 28 x 38 x 7 cm. Again, there is plenty of laser-cut PALS and you can thread the included round rubber band, which is happy to hold your jacket quickly.

There is a lot of space inside for your equipment: the compartment in front of the main compartment can be completely opened and provides a large PALS/MOLLE Velcro area.

In the lid, there are five zippered compartments. Four of them with transparent material. If there is disorder here, it is your own fault.

Now to the main compartment of the Modular Trooper Pack, with its generous 45 liters it offers enough storage space for everything you need for a few days outdoors. It can be opened via a zipper and the Modular Trooper Pack can be used as a top loader - or completely open.

As you can see, the sleeping bag as well as other equipment find plenty of space.

To keep everything compact, there are of course compression straps, a total of four, that do not hinder you when opening and closing the Modular Trooper Pack, as they wisely avoid the zipper.

The main compartment offers a huge MOLLE/PALS Velcro area and five small pockets on the sides. Of course, a hydration bladder attachment is also available.

Where there is a hydration bladder, the passages for the hose must not be missing. The Modular Trooper Pack offers three such openings. You can also pack the radio in the backpack and pull the antenna and cable through.

In the lid, there are three zippered mesh compartments and a large Velcro area. Here, for example, a small tarp and a lot of paracord find a cozy place and are quickly accessible.

Here again is the main compartment of the Modular Trooper in its full dimensions. The TASMANIAN TIGER Modular Trooper Pack can be found here in the SPARTANAT video.

CONCLUSION: The Modular Trooper Pack is a fantastic multi-day backpack. It offers enough space for all essential items and thanks to its wonderful carrying system, you will still enjoy wearing it on your back after a few days.

The Tasmanian Tiger Modular Trooper Pack is available starting at 290 euros in Black, Olive, Khaki, and Coyote Brown at all TASMANIAN TIGER retailers.
