2021 has almost two months left, but there are already new products for 2022 available from TASMANIAN TIGER. Today, we are exclusively looking at the Mil Ops Pack 30 in detail.
Here is the new Mil Ops Pack 30 in all its glory. The name indicates it has a military background. It offers 30 liters of pack volume with dimensions of 58 x 30 x 16 cm. The small, fine backpack is made of 700D Cordura, like most backpacks from TASMANIAN TIGER.
Since it is a rather small backpack, the Mil Ops Pack 30 features the simplest carrying system from TASMANIAN TIGER, the Padded Back-System. As the name suggests, the back is padded, but there are no reinforcements or frames. The shoulder straps are wide and heavily padded. The Mil Ops Pack 30 is very comfortable to wear, with or without body armor.
The Mil Ops Pack 30 is a classic toploader, meaning you pack everything from the top. To prevent anything from falling out, it comes with a lid that has enough MOLLE/PALS loops for attaching additional pouches as needed.
There is a Paracord eyelet in each corner, where the wearer can thread elastic cord through or simply tie down or secure equipment. A small but very fine feature.
No lid without a compartment, and the Mil Ops Pack 30 is no exception. The lid compartment is completely Spartan. In other words, it is a compartment with no further dividers. This helps to save weight. Speaking of weight, the Mil Ops Pack 30 weighs 1.2 kg empty, making it relatively light for a sturdy operational backpack.
In the lid compartment, you will find only a key hook, what more do you need?
However, there is another zippered compartment on the bottom.
The Mil Ops Pack 30 offers plenty of MOLLE/PALS loops on the outside and sides for additional equipment. The bungee cord can be easily removed if not needed. A velcro area for patches is a must-have nowadays. You can find the beautiful SPARTANAT Antiterror Patch in our SPARTANAT SHOP.
The main compartment is additionally held together with a strap, and to prevent dirt from getting in, the opening is equipped with a snow apron. A very classic but incredibly practical solution.
The main compartment offers enough space for a lightweight sleeping bag and the most essential gear for a day. Inside, there is only a suspension for hydration bladders; otherwise, this 30-liter pack is simply a bag for your back. For such small backpacks, elaborate interior features are counterproductive anyway, as they increase the weight. You already have everything you put in here quickly at hand.
Where there is a hydration bladder holder, there should also be drink tube outputs. This is also the case with the Mil Ops Pack 30. These are located on the left and right sides and are marked with a small droplet symbol.
The Mil Ops Pack 30 is equipped with two side pockets on the sides, which can easily hold a 1.5-liter water bottle. This is super practical for everyone, not just for the drinkers among us. With the compression straps, you can tighten the backpack well, making it as compact as necessary.
CONCLUSION: We really like the Mil Ops Pack 30. Thanks to its compact shape and simple operation, it is an ideal companion in the field. The size is just right for short trips into nature - both professionally and privately, in our opinion.
The Mil Ops Pack 30 is available at all retailers that carry TASMANIAN TIGER, for 140 euros, initially in Coyote and olive green. More colors will follow.
