The Special Forces of the Federal Police of Belgium (CGSU) approached Tasmanian Tiger and wanted a special IFAK. This request was immediately implemented and resulted in the IFAK Pouch VL L. We have taken a look at it for you.
The bag is about 20 x 14 x 5 cm in size and weighs just under 280 g empty, making it a relative lightweight with a relatively large dimension for an IFAK. The red pull handle is noticeable. This is sewn in place. A magnificent "IFAK" patch with a cross adorns the front. The patch itself is 15 x 5cm in size. This way, everyone knows what it's all about.
You will find a total of six vertical PALS loops above and below the patch area on the IFAK Pouch VL L. These are made of elastic bands and are perfect for glow sticks or other elongated objects. Of course, narrow MOLLE pouches can also be attached.
The edge is made of stretch material all around. Consequently, the IFAK Pouch VL L can stretch to a thickness of up to 6 cm. In that sense: man, is it thick, man. This allows for a lot of bandaging material to fit inside. You can see the velcro in the background towards the body, more on that later.
Here's a side view of the IFAK. We have attached it to a belt. How, you may ask?
Using PALS, of course. In total, the IFAK Pouch VL L requires a 5 x 3 PALS area to be fully stable. Anyone familiar with the MOLLE system knows that a row is sufficient.
And what's behind it? Here's the velcro detail mentioned earlier. The IFAK Pouch VL L is actually velcroed onto the PALS attachment.
In the end, it's a large patch area, if you ever don't need the IFAK Pouch VL L. Jokes aside... A simple solution to quickly detach the IFAK from the gear if it's in the way or needed elsewhere. You can also change the pull direction to the left, simply rotate it 180° and velcro it securely. Don't forget to adjust the IFAK patch.
To access the contents, the user just needs to grab the red handle...
... and pull. The insert slides out smoothly.
This is how the insert looks in your hand. The outside is equipped with a clear window. We have the casualty card inside, where everything is noted for the subsequent medic or medic to know during initial treatment.
Now just unfold it and the first aider is ready with the life-saving content. You have two insert compartments and eight large and eight small elastic loops to organize the bandage material. This division may be familiar to some.
And it should, because it's the same as in the Tasmanian Tiger Head Rest IFAK - See the SPARTANAT Review here from the TacVec series. One difference is that with the IFAK Pouch VL L, you can only pull the insert out on one side.
Here are the two inserts side by side. On the left in green is the insert of the IFAK Pouch VL L and on the right in Carbon Grey from the Head Rest IFAK. The resemblance is hard to deny. The pull handle is designed differently. "Same same but different."
