REVIEW: TASMANIAN TIGER Combi Rig QR

05/12/2023By SPARTANAT crew

The Chest Rig originated as a chest or equipment harness for the military and thanks to its well-thought-out practical carrying system, it is designed to provide space for a lot of equipment. The German company TASMANIAN TIGER, based in Dasing, Bavaria, has taken on the task of developing and further refining such a practical carrying system tailored to the needs of professional users in the military and law enforcement with the TT COMBI RIG QR.

The TT COMBI RIG QR is a flat harness in a laser-cut version with a quick-release system through ROC buckle, equipped with compressible double magazine pockets and capable of accommodating protective plates. Let's take a closer look at the COMBI RIG.

The 1,350 gram COMBI RIG is made from CORDURA® 700 den and T-Square Rip materials. The MOLLE system is present on all important attachment surfaces for attaching additional equipment.

Adjustable, thinly padded straps allow for comfortable wear over longer periods of time when loaded. The length of the pads is approximately 27 cm, and the strap can be adjusted from a minimum of 15 cm to a maximum of 70 cm. Laser-cut loops allow for the attachment or threading of cables or drinking tubes.

An admin pocket is embedded in the front panel, accessible via a YKK two-way zipper, for storing pens and maps.

On the front side of the COMBI RIG are three compressible DBL magazine pockets, allowing storage for magazines from G36, AR15, AK, etc. We will come back to the magazine pockets later.

On the side of the COMBI RIG are two multipurpose pockets that also allow for the placement of ballistic side plates. The exterior features laser-cut MOLLE slots and a Velcro area.

Inside the multipurpose pockets is a compartment for holding a ballistic plate, secured with a Velcro strap. There is a large rubber loop at the front of the pocket, ideal for holding a water bottle or MRE.

Beneath the magazine pockets is an additional front pocket with drainage grommets for various smaller pieces of equipment on the COMBI RIG.

On the back of the 170 mm x 115 mm x 50 mm bag there are rubber loops for holding glow sticks. The bag can be quickly installed or removed as it is fixed to the COMBI RIG with Velcro.

In the COMBI RIG, there is a detachable radio pocket on the left and right, which can be removed when needed.

The radio pockets on the COMBI RIG feature Laser Cut MOLLE rows where additional necessary equipment can be attached.

A nice back can also delight with the COMBI RIG. The shoulder straps are crossed behind the back to the external pockets. The external pockets are connected to each other by robust CORDURA® tape. All straps are variably adjustable via tri-glide buckles and are secured with rubber loops.

To ensure nothing shifts and remains in place, a special guide is provided at the intersection of the carrying straps.

As the name suggests, it is a COMBI RIG. The Chest Rig can be transformed into a plate carrier and combined with other equipment.

A protective plate can be attached in the COMBI RIG via Velcro on the included front panel with Laser Cut MOLLE slots.

The front panel is fixed in the COMBI RIG with Velcro. A wide elastic band and Velcro securely hold the protective plate in place. When not needed, the panel can be folded and stored in the bag where it is Velcroed.

Another Velcro strap is placed around the harness for stability and secure attachment of the front panel.

The COMBI RIG uses ROC buckles. These ensure quick attachment and removal of the plate carrier.

In case of emergency, the COMBI RIG can be opened quickly and easily. These buckles are also used on the shoulders. One grab, one pull - all open. And vice versa, they are closed.

Now let's take a closer look at the magazine pockets of the COMBI RIG. There are three compressible universal magazine pockets with removable, height-adjustable lid flap, bungee cord closure, and drain holes at the bottom.

From left to right: Bungee Cord magazine fasteners, lid flap with Velcro closure, lid closure with Fastex quick release.

Fastex closure, bungee cord magazine fastening, partition wall, and height-adjustable lid flap can be removed so the user can customize the magazine pockets of the COMBI RIG to fit their magazines.

When the partition wall is removed, double magazines from the G36 can be easily accommodated in the COMBI RIG.

The COMBI RIG comes with two carriers that serve to combine the TT ASSAULT PACK 12 in conjunction with the Cummberbund of TT Carrier LC and the TT COMBI RIG QR into one unit.

This allows the user to carry additional equipment such as Medic, radio, and spare ammunition with the COMBI RIG.

CONCLUSION: TASMANIAN TIGER tries to meet the wishes and needs of users and has fulfilled their requirements with the TT COMBI RIG QR. Modular solutions are offered, whether it's magazine pouches, expanding protective gear, or combinations with other equipment.
