Ready for action? Well, we'd like to think so. Today we're going to take a detailed look at this timeless classic from Tasmanian Tiger.
The Tasmanian Tiger Chest Rig is designed with very few but functional pockets.
It has two medium-sized side pockets, each fitting a canteen and some small items.
Inside, the pockets are equipped with MOLLE/PALS webbing, a mesh pocket, and a D-ring.
The Chest Rig is designed to accommodate 8 M4/M16, 4 G36, or 8 Stg 77 magazines. If you grind off the connecting nipples on the G36 magazines, you can likely fit 2 in one pocket.
The straps are adjustable in length thanks to Velcro.
Behind the magazine pockets is a large main compartment, more suitable for map pockets than large items.
Here is where the chest panel is located. This is needed if you want to wear the Chest Rig with a SAPI plate.
The plate is inserted behind the map pocket and threaded behind the chest plate.
Unfortunately, the Chest Rig is extremely uncomfortable when worn with just a plate. The Back Panel provides relief and also allows for two plates on the body.
The Rig is only available in one size and seems to be more suited for very large individuals or those wearing a lot of gear. The straps are indeed long enough.
The carrying system is designed as an H-harness and it fulfills its purpose very well. Everything is kept very classic.
CONCLUSION: This type of Chest Rig almost seems like it's from a forgotten time, but it still serves its purpose impeccably. Compared to some Micro Rigs, you get more than enough space and storage here, which you really need in action. The quality is as expected with Tasmanian Tiger, very good. A piece of gear history that still has its place in the field.
You can get the TT Chest Rig MK2 from all retailers that carry Tasmanian Tiger from 155 euros in Black, Khaki, Coyote, Olive Green, Multicam, and Stone Grey/RAL 7013
