Pew! Pew! Pew! That's what everyone wants. And as it is with techno, everyone wants to know how it works. "Beats per minute" is what they call it in music, "Rounds per minute" in the military. And that's also the name of the new app from the company TACTICALMEASUREMENTS, called "MyRPM". It has been available for Android since January 31st for download. An iOS version is coming soon. We at SPARTANAT have already been on the range with it – and let it rip.
That's the sound of music ... To create the noises that the music makes, which MyRPM analyzes, we thankfully had two speakers available: an M16 and an MP5. Above you can see the magazine filled with 5.56 ammunition. The second magazine – not in the picture – was noticeably narrower and filled with 9mm.
And that's the measuring instrument. The cadence – that is, the rate of fire – has been determined until now in a complicated and laborious way. Microphone, recording device, analysis – expensive and varying in accuracy. Here everything is done on the phone. The MyRPM app is activated by fingertip. We'll explain the rest to you here shortly – it's also worth watching the video above, as it shows how impressively simple everything works.
We are interested first and foremost in the specific result: the American boomstick blasts out 756 shots per minute into the foliage.
Data for eternity: the whole result can then be conveniently saved. This is especially exciting not only because of the unique measurement, but because the user can easily and immediately check how each different type of ammunition affects the weapon's cadence. The powerful algorithm of MyRPM makes it easy possible ...
Proof of the pudding: this is the result for the MP5 with the corresponding ammunition beside it. This measurement was also uncomplicated and quick, precise and problem-free.
CONCLUSION: MyRPM is a good and affordable application for weapon technicians, shooters, and all people who want to know how their firearm performs. It should not be missing on any smartphone. A good and practical app at a reasonable price, which allows the user to always check their own weapon. And we are excited to see what else will come from the workshop of TACTICALMEASUREMENTS.
