REVIEW: TacTech 2T - the cool coupler for Magpul PMAG GEN M3

The gun control restrictions initiated by the European Union have hit the sports shooter community hard with the limitation of magazine capacities. Users of the widely spread AR15 platform are also suffering from these restrictions. Numerous manufacturers have attempted to come up with a solution by coupling two 10-round magazines to alleviate the problem. However, hardly any approach was truly satisfactory, especially when looking for a compliant solution for the popular Magpul PMAGs of the 3rd generation. The innovative and young company TacTech from southern Germany surprises with their sophisticated and solid 2T Coupler solution.

The goal is clearly defined: to couple two 10-round MagPul Gen3 magazines in a way that creates the same length and curved shape as a MagPul 30-round magazine. The identical curved shape in the coupled state without protruding elements ensures smooth reloading and compatibility with existing magazine holders and pouches, which is a significant advantage.

However, the 2T Coupler offers further highly interesting features that make it stand out. The assembly is tool-less and can be done in seconds. For disassembly, the casing of a .223 Remington cartridge or a dummy round of the same caliber is sufficient. If the opening gets clogged or the casing gets stuck, it can be ejected from the other side with a standard AR15 firing pin.

TacTech relies 100% on materials and production made in Germany. A high-strength ABS plastic from BASF serves as the basic material for manufacturing in Stuttgart. This makes the product extremely durable and resistant to oils, fats, and saltwater, as well as temperature fluctuations, weather influences, and aging, particularly from UV rays.

The very high impact, tensile, and bending strength is evident when dropping the magazines during the reloading process. Unlike many competing products, the coupled magazines remain firmly connected and show no play even after extended use and frequent disassembly. The textured back provides additional grip when handling the coupled magazines.

Interestingly, TacTech uses 3D printing technology for manufacturing. This allows for precise and lightweight processing of the high-quality thermoplastic material. The tensile strength of the 2T Coupler is tested up to 65kg, which is a significant load. Even more impressive is the bending load of up to 45kg, especially when considering the structural design. The 2T Coupler does not break under load. If the load limit is exceeded, the magazines disengage from the locking mechanism and can be easily reassembled afterward. Currently, the colors available are Black and Signal Orange. The latter color is particularly useful in resolving misunderstandings quickly, as is the borehole for disassembly when dealing with self-proclaimed know-it-alls at the range.
