REVIEW: STRATAGEM G36 Polymer Mag Holder TALON

What is square, hard, and worn in front of the stomach? Of course, a special magazine holder that is attached to the rig. Similar to the Fastmags by ITW Nexus, but still quite different. STRATAGEM from Berlin has found a solution for the German G36 magazines, which can be quickly drawn, the Polymer Mag Holder TALON. The shooter must push, pull, and ultimately attach the magazine to the weapon. We at SPARTANAT have checked out the TALON for you. The TALON is available in Coyote and Foliage, colors that go well with Multicam and Flecktarn. On the left, we see the front of the Mag Holder, on the right, the back. On one side, it is attached to the armor, and on the other side, you can still mount a pouch. Narrow slots can be seen on both sides, which can accommodate MALICE clips or other MOLLE attachments.

To get the TALON onto the armor, you need MALICE or similar MOLLE clips. Here they are already looped in. You can also see the side design of the TALON's body well here. The polymer is quite hard. With the magazine inserted, we hit the TALON with full force on the concrete floor and jumped on it with our 90 kilos. It didn't make a dent.

Once threaded with MALICE, you can start attaching the TALON to the armor. The natural way to mount it is for the magazine holder to hang. This results in the specific functionality...

...which is easy to understand in the profile view. The groove from the G36 magazine fits into a slot. The magazine is pushed into place from the front of the Mag Holder. When it snaps, it's closed, according to the user manual.

CONCLUSION: The TALON doesn't replace every magazine pouch, but it is a solid and practical quick-draw solution for a specific magazine, that of the German G36 (for example, he doesn't like the G36 PMAG). With MALICE, it is firmly attached to the armor. Push, pull, and the magazine is in the right position, ready to be pulled upwards.
