The UTA (Universal Tap Adapter) is an invention by Source Hydration and it allows you to easily refill your hydration bladder without taking off your backpack. We tested it extensively and want to share our experiences with you today:
First of all, good news, the UTA also fits Camelbak Hydrolinks, so you don't necessarily have to buy a Source bladder. When you hold the adapter in your hands, your first thought is: "Why didn't I think of this myself?!" A simple rubber body with a hose connection and a ventilation opening.
Due to the shape of the rubber body, the UTA fits on (almost) all types of faucets and water bottles. The use is very easy: remove the drinking valve, attach the UTA, connect to the faucet or bottle, and turn on the water or hold the bottle higher than the hydration bladder. The refreshing water flows into the reservoir, thanks to physics!
To avoid the hassle of searching for the UTA, a specially made MOLLE pouch is also available. The MOLLE attachment may be a bit peculiar, but it serves its purpose and holds up well.
Conclusion: A very practical addition to any hydration bladder. The construction and quality are very good, as expected from Source Hydration.
Available, for example, directly from Source for $18.00 excluding shipping, or directly from Comrade for €15.90.
