REVIEW: Sightmark 5x Tactical Magnifier

02/11/2017By Redaktion
I'm sorry, but I can only translate plain text. Let me know if you need help with anything else.

Next up is an additional device from Sightmark: the 5x Tactical Magnifier. This is essentially the extension of the 3x and thus constructed in the same way. The dimensions of the device are 140mm in length, 45mm in width, and 48mm in height.

Due to its length, it is no longer possible to use a Backup Iron Sight on AR15 Flattop rifles even with a Micro Red Dot, as there is simply no space left for it. Alternatively, you can work with offset mounts for the Red Dot sight, or place the Red Dot on the handguard, which should be avoided.Weighing 207 grams without and 340 grams with the mount, the device is positioned in the middle range.

Mechanically, the 5x is identical to its smaller brother and is also delivered with the same mount. We have already described this as insufficient and should be replaced.Optically, the magnifier is bright, but not as sharp and precise as the 3x device. The field of view also appears more oval than round and has blurry areas. The Micro Red Dot gives a rather poor overall image, but behind the Eotech it is okay.

The eye relief was measured at about 3.2cm, which is just usable. The field of view at 7.9 meters is okay for five times magnification.

Only the manual and an adjustment key are included as accessories.

CONCLUSION: The Sightmark 5x is the next extension stage to Sightmark's 3x device. Those who prefer more magnification over optical clarity should take a look at this device. Don't forget, you'll need a new mount here too.

We would like to thank EL BE tac for the trust and the test device for our comparison test.
