REVIEW: Sightmark 3x Tactical Magnifier

02/03/2017By Redaktion
I'm sorry, but I can only translate text. If you provide me with the text you would like to be translated, I can definitely help you with that.

Today we show you the Sightmark 3x Tactical Magnifier. It falls into the category of affordable devices and is well-liked due to its optical clarity and edge sharpness. The dimensions of the device are 125mm in length, 45mm in width, and 48mm in height.

With a weight of 191 grams without and 322 grams with mounting, the device is relatively lightweight.Although it has a 30mm main tube, the mounting is slightly set back, which unfortunately limits the choice for alternative mounts. Speaking of the mounting, well ... it's there at least. It also has a quick release, but it scratches the paint on first use and is also quite long and smooth. Also, the "slide to side" function is rather modest compared to other folding functions. The device slides to the side where it then hangs slightly tilted. The hold in the normal state is done by small pins that do not make a trustworthy impression shortly after receipt.

The mounting height of 37mm is designed for 1/3 lower co-witness and also works well for absolute co-witness.

The optical quality of the Sightmark 3x is - as mentioned before - quite good, with great light transmission, clear glass, and good edge sharpness. The only negative aspect is that you can see the edges of the lens when the head is not positioned 100 percent correctly behind the glass.

Mechanically, everything is well made, but the diopter adjustment is a bit stiff. The adjustment options are nicely integrated into the housing and work as they should. The overall impression of the device leaves nothing to be desired, but it gives off a rather cheap impression compared to the rest of the units. We don't believe that it will last particularly long. Although it is listed as shockproof and water-resistant, it definitely does not inspire confidence.

The eye relief of 4cm is OK, so you can work with it. The field of view is a bit small for a 3x optic at 7.5 meters, but this is also the case with some of the top devices.

There is only the manual and an adjustment key as accessories.

CONCLUSION: The Sightmark 3x is most comparable to UTG. Those who acquire this device will definitely need to buy a new mount and expect a potentially short lifespan.

We thank EL BE tac very much for the trust and the test unit for our comparison test.
