What makes a good backpack? The one that is perfect for the occasion. Or one that is very versatile. SEMAPO GEAR from Korea, specializing in replicas of US Special Operation Forces equipment, has released an exciting special edition of the Yotee Backpack from Eagle Industries: as the YT bag in Multicam Black.
This makes the assault pack look very urban-friendly, which is why we also use it as an EDC backpack. Simply because it is also very versatile and practical: it matches Multicam Black gear, but also works perfectly as a sports backpack. Here on the – presumably Korean (smaller-sized) – man, it looks significantly larger than it does on us.
By its original design, it is of course made for the military. Hence the double back. On one side, very well-padded and ideally shaped shoulder straps with D-rings for normal...
... on the other side, a back with PALS webbing, so that you can also detach the shoulder straps
On the top, there is a carrying handle which is not present in the original. In this case, it is a useful improvement, as you often have the backpack in urban settings and need to carry it by hand.
Beneath, in the middle, there is a well-hidden hydration tube opening. Originally, it is also a hydration pack and can easily accommodate a hydration bladder. The shoulder straps on the sides are detachable.
On the sides of the YT bag, there are plenty of MOLLE loops, the zipper pulls are made of green paracord and have easy-to-grip pull tabs.
Side view of the YT Bag: you can see that it is actually made up of two parts. On the right, the actual (hydration) backpack in the dimensions of a MAP. On the left, the beavertail, which forms a compartment equipped with mesh.
The beavertail from the front: this compartment that forms the beavertail is excellent. Normally, the helmet with all accessories fits in here, you can see that the Rhino for the night vision device sticks out above. But the large, flexible compartment also fits the sports shoes perfectly, a towel, everything that needs to come along and needs space.
At the top of the YT, there is also a small compartment for flat items. By the way, you can see the equipped helmet in the folded beavertail.
Below are some loops for attaching equipment. As nice as the SEMAPO backpack is, the loop material looks cheap. Unfortunately, the clips do too...
In the interior is the mesh compartment that holds the hydration bladder and nothing else. You don't need more.
Let's talk about the Beavertail: there's also a small compartment at the top.
Attached at the bottom is a larger round compartment, again with attachment loops. And a velcro area for patches.
A light jacket easily fits into this compartment.
The mesh allows a glimpse of the contents of the open compartment from the side.
This is how the YT looks on the back.
CONCLUSION: An extremely practical backpack in urban Multicam Black (the material is probably cloned too). But it's nice that it comes in that color - and at a nice price. It is an extremely good EDC companion, especially because of the Beavertail. By the way, we consider it the ideal sports backpack.
You can get the SEMAPO YT bag Multicam Black directly from SEMAPO GEAR for $138.58.
The tag in the backpack - SAMAPO has strongly followed Crye's design.
