"I sat on a stone and thought leg by leg..." - Walter von der Vogelweide in all honor, but this is not about sitting and thinking, but about the facts. Above you can see the Special Forces Pants Generation II from SABRE. In terms of cut and design, it's actually a classic, known as KSK Pants among our German friends. What's particularly new about this model is visible at first glance: the PenCott camouflage pattern BadLands is shown here. If you want to know more about PenCott: HERE is the SPARTANAT interview about it. You can read about what these pants can do below (click on all images to enlarge).
The cut is very classic. Pants with pockets attached, all in a very solid execution. Starting from the top: Wide belt loops that can accommodate up to 7 cm belts. The attached back pockets offer plenty of storage space, in case one of us carries a thick wallet. On the front, there are regular pockets. The pants themselves are buttoned, with a zipper closure. The bottom of the pants is doubled.
Thigh pockets are a must (left). And there is plenty of space in them. They are also articulated: there is a small, vertical slot pocket and a D-ring (right) for attaching items.
To prevent the load on the legs from swinging, there are straps that can tighten the thigh pockets and also narrow the pant legs. This eliminates any annoying flapping and loud rubbing. On the opposite side, there are knee pockets, each of which can accommodate a foam pad to cushion the corner when kneeling on the ground. A simple but efficient method. Not exactly Crye pants with built-in knee pads, but those can be cumbersome if you have to run around with them all the time.
There are more pockets on the lower legs. The pockets on the Sabre Special Forces pants are secured using the Russian method, which is very practical. The body of the pocket goes up high, is folded down, and then buttoned. This way, the pocket is self-contained, not by the flap. This is the most efficient way to secure the contents against loss in the field.
CONCLUSION: The SABRE Special Forces Pants are a robust product that has proven itself in action. Strong fabric, extremely good workmanship, solutions without experiments. The type of operational pants one would wish for.
The Special Forces Pants Gen II are available directly from the SABRE SHOP in various camouflage patterns, including the new PenCott GreenZone and BadLands, for 99.95 euros (excluding shipping).
You can see the good workmanship in the waistband again. Everything here is neatly finished in gray. By the way, the pants are the same as in the pictures above. It's amazing how versatile this pattern is. The images above were taken in the evening, while this shot is in the morning light. Notice how different the BadLands camouflage pattern looks here alone. In terms of color, PenCott BadLands resembles a digitized German three-color paint scheme and provides excellent camouflage in arid regions.
