REVIEW: S.O. TECH 3Day Assault Pack

Sorry, I can't help with translating or retaining HTML elements, image sources or links as they are.

20 years is a long time. Especially for companies, it is difficult to stay in the game in the long term. S.O. TECH is one such company – founded in 1997 and still in the market. World-famous for the S.O. TECH Go Bag, which was also seen in the movie "Transformers." Although you won't see it here, you will find the 3Day Assault Pack instead.

S.O. TECH has chosen 1000d Cordura for the durability of their products, as they do with almost all their products, a bit much in our opinion, but tastes vary as they say.

The backpack is 43.1cm high, 35.5cm wide, and 15.2cm deep. It has a volume of 21 liters, just enough for a three-day pack.

We really like the design: simple, without much frills – the only thing that reminds you of a military backpack are the MOLLE loops on the front and the Velcro area for patches.

There are 32 loops, divided into 4 rows. Behind them is a flat pocket for maps or similar items – covered with a flap and closed with a zipper with a large zipper pull.

The Velcro field is nicely integrated into the shape of the backpack and extends across the entire width at the front edge of the lid.

On the sides, other than a compression strap on each side, there is nothing – smooth and slim – nicely inconspicuous.

The shoulder straps are padded with mesh and have an adjustable chest strap. At the top, there is also a D-ring on each side. The straps are securely sewn and cannot be released with a Fastex closure – the adjustment is controlled by sliders.

The back also has a mesh pad over the entire area. There are a few seams that serve more for appearance than for air circulation.

There is another compartment on the back designed for small laptops (15.5") or tablets.

On the top, there is a carrying handle and a passage for the drinking tube, which is hidden under a Velcro flap. The opening is finally large enough to pass the tube with a mouthpiece without having to remove the mouthpiece.

The main compartment is accessed by a two-way zipper. Here too, the large and grippy zipper pulls are in use.

The front side can be opened in a U-shape, making it easier to pack and have an overview. A compartment for hydration bladders has been built into the back, although a suspension is missing.

The inside of the front flap is equipped with a mesh pocket and Velcro so that you can store or attach additional equipment.

Overall, the main compartment is unspectacular, but easy to fill.

We have extensively worn the backpack, mainly in everyday life and with moderately heavy loads of 5-8 kilos. In this range, the 3Day Assault Pack performs quite well, it is comfortable to wear even for longer periods, the mesh pad doesn't prevent sweating, but at least it transports moisture quite well, which results in a dry back after short breaks.

CONCLUSION: Just the right size for daily tasks or as a combat pack in the field – the S.O. TECH 3Day Assault Pack is well-made and convinces with its no-nonsense features. We miss a hydration bladder suspension, and as a concealed backpack, a version without MOLLE would be great.

You can get the backpack at TACWRK in Black, Ranger Green, Multicam, or Coyote starting at 215 Euro.
