REVIEW: RIBZ Front Pack

If the sight disturbs you, then you are right: today we are presenting a Split Front Chest Rig - that is civilian. RIBZ has picked up the idea that you can mount pockets to the front of your body and adapted it for the outdoor market. We at SPARTANAT have tested the RIBZ Front Pack, which is available in Germany at Toolshop.de for you.

You put it on in a classic way. Straps over the shoulder, adjust the width behind the back (left), and then close the Rig - pardon -, the Front Pack in front between the two pockets.

This is what the good piece looks like on the man. The design reminds us of an LBT-1879, as manufactured by London Bridge Trading and used by the Navy SEALs. The idea behind it is not surprising for hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts. Carrying a backpack on the back and always having to take it off when you need something is annoying. Therefore, storage space is created in the chest/abdomen area (although it is called a Chest Rig, but they usually hang quite low).

In the RIZB Front Pack, you can fit maps and a compass, snacks and a cap... everything you want to have quickly and conveniently at hand. On each side, there is an attached pocket with a zip for small items. The main compartment is structured with two mesh pockets.

CONCLUSION: A simple and good idea, implemented here in a civilian way. The Chest Rig for the global wanderer, so to speak. It can certainly replace a backpack for short trips and adventure outings, but it is intended as a successful addition to what you carry on your back. All useful things are quickly at hand. The material (200D) is lighter than comparable military vests (500 to 1000D). What they have in common is that you sweat underneath them during strenuous activities. But that's part of the deal when you give it your all outdoors...
