REVIEW: RECOVER TACTICAL P-IX AR platform for Glock

06/21/2022By Redaktion

Shooting an AR15 in 9mm? Can be quite practical and very entertaining. The price of ammunition compared to .223 is a compelling argument. But buying a whole rifle right away? RECOVER TACTICAL makes it possible for you to get the AR15 feeling with your Glock. We tested the brand new P-IX Kit for you.

So basically, this is what you get, without optics and without a foregrip of course. Essentially a shoulder stock, but in the form of an AR15. Looks nice, feels solid.

Inside, it looks warmly empty. It's just a housing with the bare necessities inside.

This is how it works in practice. Here a classic Glock 17 is inserted.

A part goes onto the slide of the pistol.

Yes, it moves for reloading and after each shot.

And the linkage translates between the trigger of the pistol and the trigger of the P-IX Kits. A bit creaky at first, but works well.

If we look closely, we see: the pistol's magazine well simply becomes the magazine well of the "AR-Kit".

The P-IX is the simplest to assemble: insert pistol with slide part, close the housing, then close one latch at the top...

...and one latch at the bottom...

...and close the third one at the magazine well with clips. Then everything holds securely.

And this part is up to you. The buffer tube — without internals, because it doesn't need them — you have to get separately, and you can also use the stock of your choice for it.

This is what it looks like when finished. Be careful: the distance from the pistol's muzzle to the end of the buffer tube must not exceed 60 cm. This is still a pistol with a brace and not a long weapon…

It's up to you what stock you want to use: Magpul, other manufacturers…

The grip comes with it, but can also be removed and replaced with any AR15 grip of your choice.

The pistol is in the middle, the magazine is inserted normally there.

At the front, we have the MG9 front grip with magazine holder. But you can use anything that fits on an AR15 rail.

The ejection port of the pistol and therefore the kit. We have a pre-production model here with a closed rail. The final kits are open at the top so that the vertically ejected casing does not get blocked with some Glock models.

Another small thumb rest on the kit.

And rails on the front right and left. The kit can be equipped with all your AR15 accessories as you wish. That's the magic.

Here is everything together at the range. We don't have flip-up sights here — you can buy them with the kit — but we have a HOLOSUN Red Dot instead.

All in moving pictures. P-IX on the Range.

And this is the kit with the box, how you will receive it.

CONCLUSION: We think this is a great kit that brings the full joy of a compact AR15 to pistol shooters. Easy to handle and solidly made, it extends the fun with the pistol to a pistol carbine that also takes all the accessories of your AR15.
