Nothing is as cold as the Russian winter, it feels. So it's no wonder that you can expect the new Russian uniform system Ratnik (Russian designation VKBO) to do something special. Today we present to you Level 3 of the VKBO uniform.

Level 3 is the third layer of the underwear. L1 was a short set, L2 was a long set (reviews of these can be clicked at the end of the article). Now comes the particularly warm layer, suitable for temperatures below -10 degrees, according to the Russians.

At first glance, it's not visible, but Level 3 is made of fleece. More specifically, waffle fleece - and it warms wonderfully.

This is the long underwear in waffle fleece. You can also see the squares from the outside. This makes the fabric more breathable because the thin layer encases a thick waffle square. Our set fits a bit loose, we could have taken a size smaller.

The long waffle underpants have a classic fly, so the little man can go out even in extreme cold.

The waistband at the top is relatively loose. But everything is held together by the clothing layers above anyway.

The top is a long-sleeved shirt.

The high stand-up collar for closure is super practical in winter.

And pleasantly warm, because it's fleece. The zipper goes down to under the chest (see also the overall photo above).

This is simply great in winter. The sleeve with thumb hole covers the palms.

Here is the inside again: you can see the waffle structure clearly. Of course, it's interesting that the Russian Level 3, like the American PCU or ECWCS uniforms, has a fleece Level 3. However, the Americans wear the waffles on the outside, while the Russians wear them on the inside. In this case, we suspect the Russians are more correct in terms of warmth.

And also nice and long at the back so that no cold can sneak in anywhere.

CONCLUSION: Great gear for people who really have to work in the cold. Unbeatable price. It's funny how you can be inspired in Russia by western models for excellent Russian solutions.
