REVIEW: Pohl Force Mike Three

08/09/2017By Redaktion
I'm sorry, I cannot translate content in other languages.

Pocket knives are a matter of faith to some extent. And we confess: we like to believe in Pohl Force. For years, we have been carrying the Bravo One - introduced HERE on SPARTANAT. Accordingly, we were very curious about the new mid-range model that Pohl Force has released, a blade that is smaller and more handy compared to the bulky pieces intended for field use Mike Three shows its face: at least that's the colorful side. The handle is milled from G10, this piece brings about ten centimetres into the pants. The rugged shape gives the knife a slightly archaic look, ... ... which is immediately contradicted when you flip the pocket knife. The shell with the Frame Lock is made of titanium, which gives it a completely different aesthetic. Very technical, elegant. One almost wishes to have the same replication on this side to replace the G10. That would be a perfect urban style. The stats for the knife:

  • Overall length: 220 mm
  • Blade length: 95 mm
  • Blade thickness: 4 mm
  • Weight: 140 g
  • Blade steel: Niolox
  • Blade surface: Satin finish
  • Handle material: G-10 (olive), Titanium
  • Locking mechanism: Liner Lock® & RotoBlock®
  • Clip: Steel

The blade is a classic spear point and - for a Pohl Force - very narrow. But four millimeters thick is something that suffices for everyday use. It doesn't always have to be heavy. The Pohl Force EOD logo is on the blade, followed by the serial number. On the other side it says "Niolox," which is the selected steel. What we particularly like about this "big" little pocket knife is the ability to not only grip it by the handle, but also to shorten it. Thumb on the blade, index finger on the notch before the edge, this makes the knife a very practical tool for finer tasks. The narrow blade cuts very finely. And in daily use, it also slices something like a mundane apple perfectly. Where thick blades quickly become impractical ... Detail of the frame with its beautiful shape. In the middle, the RotoBlock can be seen. Initially, this puzzled us a bit. After all, we don't expect the Frame Lock of a quality knife to cause problems. For German friends, it may not be obvious, but for us it is: the blade lifter allows you to operate the knife single-handedly excellently after pulling it out of your pocket. However, it is true that the additional locking mechanism ensures that this cannot happen. With the activated RotoBlock - it turns - the blade is securely locked, and the frame has no chance of inadvertently releasing it. And you can immediately see that Pohl Force has entered into a close cooperation with the Italian manufacturer Lionsteel. This can also be seen in the shape of the blade lifter, which is identical to other Lionsteel knives. For those who really want to break something, there is a tungsten carbide glass breaker at the end of the knife. Small, sharp, and nasty. One firm hit, and it's done ... Overall view of the knife. This beautiful piece weighs just 140 grams and has a pleasant weight for daily carry in the pocket. On the clip, which can be repositioned to the other side, the Pohl Force logo is visible. And it proves itself in daily use. The beautiful knife comes with a sheath, on which the Pohl Force logo is also embroidered. The Paracord lanyard hangs out of the pocket, attached to the knife with a skull bead. Fits perfectly, no need to buy it separately.
