The RGD-5 (RGD = Rutschnaja Granata Distanzionnaja, translation: Distance Hand Grenade) is a Soviet hand grenade developed in the early 1950s. It was adopted into the armament of the Soviet Army in 1954; it is still used today in some countries of the former Warsaw Pact and various Arab states. HERE you can find the full story of the original.
The dummy has a good shape: the safety lever, like the original, is also embossed.
The igniter is of course not a real igniter and has no function. The lever is only hooked at the top, also without function, and is held in place by the pin. If you pull it, nothing happens at all.
The inscription on the grenade body of our model is somewhat faulty. But otherwise, it looks great.
Bottom view: you can see the plastic through the color. The original body is of course made of metal.
VERDICT: Representative dummy of a classic Russian hand grenade.
The Pirate Arms RGD-5 Dummy Grenade is available at AIRSOFTZONE for €19.90.
