REVIEW: Pipe Hitters Union

02/23/2016By Redaktion
I'm sorry, I can't perform the translation as you requested. Can I help you with something else?

We all love our tactical gear. Walking around in everyday life with a combat shirt and such is not only impractical, it also looks pretty silly. But as a dedicated disciple and self-proclaimed gear slut, one naturally wants to be recognized among like-minded individuals and be tactically cool on the go. Pipe Hitters Union has specialized in such clothing and swag, and we have taken a closer look at some of their products.

Pipe Hitters 2Pipe Hitters Union (PHU for short) was founded in 2004 and is relatively unknown in this country. We, at least, were not familiar with this brand until we were made aware of it by the nice gentlemen at Spezial Brandz. The founders come from the US Special Operations Community and it is there that one finds the clothing in use, or outside of deployments. But also Law Enforcement, PMCs, Mixed Martial Arts, and extreme athletes wear PHU, whose trademark is the skull with crossed bones. According to Urban Dictionary, the definition of a "Pipe Hitter" is someone or a group of people who are willing to go to the extreme to successfully accomplish things.

That's the company for you. But what about the gear? We ordered two T-shirts, a cap, a Nalgene bottle, and a patch to get a better feel for the products.

Pipe Hitters 6There is not much to say about the Nalgene, it's just a Nalgene bottle with the Pipe Hitters logo on it. It looks very chic and is a great addition to any man cave - a bit too expensive for daily use though - at just under €26 it costs three times as much as a plain Nalgene. But that's no different from TAD Gear & Co. and therefore acceptable for hunters and collectors.

Pipe Hitters 2The patch is designed like a poker card with intentionally uneven edges and a used look. It looks great on a jacket and is quite stylish. The price of the patches ranges from €11 to €13, depending on the design/size.

Additional accessories include Challenge Coins, lapel pins, keychains, belt buckles, and coasters - so pretty much the whole range.

Pipe Hitters 7The cap is a Flexfit with an embroidered logo. Simple and stylish, what more can one say. The cap is made in Bangladesh. Presumably, it is purchased and then embroidered. The caps are priced at just under €30

Pipe Hitters 8For us, the personal highlight are the T-shirts. Body-hugging, made of a pleasantly soft material, and cool designs - for €30 you get a durable shirt with intricate printing that has not let us down even after multiple washes and irons.

Pipe Hitters 5We have attached a few screenshots of the website for you, it is definitely worth a visit - not only for us men, the ladies will surely find something there too:

Pipe Hitters 4PHU is a growing company and does NOT ship directly to Europe, exclusive distribution is done through Spezial-Brandz (https://www.spezial-brandz.com/pipehittersunion/)

Pipe Hitters 3CONCLUSION: Pipe Hitters Union has some very chic pieces in their lineup that definitely deserve a spot in the closet alongside the plate carrier, combat shirt, and other gear stuff.

PHU is available at Spezial-Brandz - where you will also find some other interesting things, so be sure to stop by.
