Who is active outdoors needs a good pair of pants. They accompany you to the range or to the mountain. We took a look at the PENTAGON Hermes Activity Pants for you. And already noticed while kneeling in the forest: they are quite flexible.
We got the good piece in Coyote, a pretty universal color for use. But they are also available in black or green. The black knee patches and ankle abrasion protection are conspicuous. Looks durable. It is.
The back looks less spectacular. The entire pants are made of a stretch material with 97 percent nylon and three percent elastane, guaranteeing maximum freedom of movement. Because it stretches in all directions, it's called "4-Way-Stretch."
The magic of the pants is definitely the material. Smooth and stretchy on the outside, inside it feels comfortable like a pair of pants. It's not the thinnest, so it won't accompany you through the peak of summer, but it's great for the rest of the seasons.
In terms of cut, it sits more on the hips. Flexible gussets are incorporated in the waistband, which are not bothersome when worn and ensure that the pants grow with the belly.
The construction is very coherent: the pocket is reinforced with black material at the edge, because you can insert knives and so on. Below that, we see the super practical pocket that can hold a smartphone or similar item.
The other side has more. The reinforcement on the pockets is ideal for us knife carriers. Below that is an inset thigh pocket, positioned more towards the hip, making it very easy to reach. Not much space inside, just enough for small items.
The pocket on the back has roughly the same dimensions, but is also bordered in black.
The knee area has black, padded material sewn on. Ideal, because when the wearer kneels down, this area either gets dirty or the garment is exposed to dangers like stones, branches, or shells. Nothing can happen here, a simple and effective solution. It doesn't always have to be annoying knee pads.
Also reinforced at the bottom end, where the pants run contrary when the wearer moves. The black ripstop on the high-stress zones in the ankle area protects against abrasion on the 4-Way-Stretch.
The finish: an elastic cord can adjust the closure. You can wear the pants long with the tube open, draw it and wear it halfway up and close it so that it fits high on the boot shaft.
CONCLUSION: The Hermes is a pleasant surprise for us, a very good pair of pants. PENTAGON is showing its best side. Good quality, nice design, and an unbeatable price. What we would wish for is a matching softshell jacket to go with it, so that the wearer could wear the whole thing as a system similar to the PCU L5 set.
The Pentagon Hermes Activity Pants are available in Green, Black, and Coyote at all retailers that carry Pentagon. Directly at Recon Company, the Hermes pants cost €79.95.

“I sat on a stone / and put leg to leg” ... somewhat like that.
