REVIEW: P-40 RANGER Tactical Shorts by UFPRO

05/16/2024By Redaktion

Summer, sun, sunshine. On hot days, you need a light and short pants. It should be durable, resilient, light, comfortable, versatile, breathable, have improved freedom of movement, and secure pockets. UFPRO has developed the P-40 RANGER Short for individuals who take their activities extremely seriously and want to be prepared for anything. From long hikes, hot deployments to tough training sessions whether in the gym or outdoors. SPARTANAT has slipped into the new legwear and tested it extensively.

Exterior

At first glance, it is immediately noticeable that the P-40 RANGER Short has fewer pockets, a slimmer design, and shorter legs. High-strength nylon ripstop is used in the front area of the shorts. The shorts are designed to be as inconspicuous as possible to allow for maximum freedom of movement.

The P-40 RANGER Short does not have back pockets. SCHOELLER®-DYNAMIC STRETCH ensures absolute mobility in the rear and side areas.

The pants can accommodate belts up to a maximum width of 42 mm. The P-40 RANGER Short features reinforced belt loops designed to securely hold the detachable waist/flex belt (not included).

There are double belt loops in the front for securing duty belts.

Under these double belt loops are channels for attaching S-Biners or carabiners.

Padding in the lower lumbar area is very comfortable, especially when sitting in a vehicle with a duty belt for several hours or carrying a backpack.

Interior

A look at the inner values of the P-40 RANGER Short. The transitions between the materials are nice and flat, and cleanly processed. This avoids chafing and unnecessary friction.

The sizes of the Tuck-Lock and front pockets are clearly visible and nicely defined.

The thigh pocket is cleanly and flatly sewn inside with the outer material to avoid friction.

Materials

Featuring a Canadian Slotted Button, a YKK® one-way zipper, and hooks. The advantage of the Canadian Slotted Button is that it is easy to repair and replace. A black elastic band is visible at the top edge to prevent the shirt from slipping out.

All seams of the Ranger are neatly sewn.

100% polyamide ultralight ripstop fabric (120-130 g/m2) is used as the material. This makes the P-40 RANGER Short more durable and resilient.

92% polyamide and 8% elastane in SCHOELLER®-DYNAMIC STRETCH make the P-40 RANGER Short more flexible and adaptable to all situations.

Pockets

Two front pockets and a zippered security pocket on the right side provide ample storage space.

Two tuck-lock pockets at hip level provide storage for flat items like cell phones, tools, or M4 magazines.

Two large cargo pockets on the thighs with drainage holes offer plenty of storage options. Access this time only from the top via a YKK® zipper.

Inside the cargo pockets, there is a division.

The cargo pockets have so-called bellows folds, which allows you to carry a lot of equipment with you.

CONCLUSION

UFPRO has developed a really good pair of pants with the P-40 RANGER Short. It can take a lot, has enough storage space, is comfortable to wear, light in weight and quick-drying. It stands out for its exceptional flexibility and durability. We wore them in pouring rain, while climbing trees, on the beach volleyball court, in the sandbox, in the fitness room and swimming pool, on the obstacle course outdoors and indoors. They went through everything. Also pleasant were the trips with backpack and carrying frame thanks to the innovative, breathable 3D padding on the lower back.

The P-40 RANGER SHORTS from UFPRO are available directly from the manufacturer in the colors Black, Stone Gray-Olive, Kangaroo, Navy Blue, Steel Gray, MULTICAM® and MULTICAM® Black starting at 135 EUR or from retailers who carry the brand.
