REVIEW: OUTSTANDARDS EDC Mag AR Powerbank

12/01/2023By Redaktion

If you need energy or a tension-filled Christmas gift: we have something special for you. The power bank from Outstandards from the USA is available at CAMOSTORE. It offers a power of 20,000mAh/76Wh, the housing is in Mil-Spec quality, has EMI shielding – in a sense, bombproof – and is extremely water-repellent and dustproof thanks to the IP64 standard.

This is the packaging. Inside, you'll find the EDC-MAG-AR 20,000 mAh, a USB-C cable, a user manual, and a portion of Velcro.

The magic of this power bank is revealed to anyone who knows what a PMag is for the AR15. At first glance, they look quite similar. That was also why it was love at first sight for us.

You shall know them by their lips: on the left, the real .223 magazine, and on the right, the smooth lips of the power bank. Once again proving: smooth is awesome.

If there is no more power, you can also use this as a punch: the housing of the power bank is in Mil-Spec quality and is made of ZYTEL(R). Zytel(R) from DuPont has a legendary reputation for its strength, offers unparalleled durability and protection, and also offers flame resistance for about 60 seconds.

The Zytel blend demanded by Outstandards also provides EMI shielding and protects the battery cells from electronic interferences such as static discharge.

Through the window on the side, you can see no cartridges, yet it is a battery level indicator.

Here are the technical specifications for the power bank:

  • Capacity: 20,000 mAh
  • Battery cell: 10,000 mAh x 2 pieces of Li-Ion Polymer Battery
  • USB-C input: 5 V/3 A, 9 V/2 A, 12 V/1.5 A at 18 W max

  • (PPS: 5 ~ 5.9 V/3 A, 5 ~ 11 V/2 A) at 22.5 W max
  • USB-A 1 output: 5V/3A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A, 5V/4.5A @22.5W Max
  • USB-A2 output: 5 V/2.4 A with Auto-IC at 12 W max
  • Indicator: 10 LED indicators (one LED = 10% charge)
  • Material: Zytel
  • Weight: 500g
  • Charging time: approx. 5 hours
  • Intended charging and discharging cycles: 500 times

The waterproof and dustproof silicone cap protects the ports through which you can charge three devices simultaneously.

Everything is nicely labeled. With the button on the far right, you bring the power bank to life.

Well thought out: for personalization, the supplied piece of Velcro can be attached to the designated area on the power bank. Then your name patch will fit as well.

Here again the whole Maga ... uh the power bank in one hand. Fits as well as a PMag, has a similar feel due to the weight.

Also looks great on the Duty Belt. Or if you want to carry it around in a socially conspicuous way, take a Kydex magazine holder and go about your daily life. This thing is called EDC.

Here the power bank is having a drink. Yes, we have a water tap for power.

The power bank has the following protective functions:

  • Automatic shutdown when overcharging (voltage/current)
  • Deep discharge (voltage/current)
  • Short circuit - overheating
  • Automatic shutdown after completion of device charging process

This is the manufacturer's video for the power bank.

CONCLUSION: They still exist, the things you must have. Seen - wanted. This power bank may be bombproof and indestructible, it has technical finesse and works. It's simply its style that convinces one way or the other, even if it is significantly more expensive than your normal power bank. But you can take this magazine everywhere, everyone will talk to you and you will laugh together. And the discussions at the airport - real gold. The perfect power bank for people with needs like us.

The OUTSTANDARDS EDC Mag AR Powerbank is available in Black and Coyote. It costs Euro 129.99 at CAMOSTORE
