In the summer, we like to go swimming. For others, involuntary swimming can be life-threatening, especially when it happens with full equipment. The Programmable Submersible Life Vest (PSLV) is a versatile lifesaver from outer-limits, you can see it attached to a plate carrier above.

The PSLV attaches very inconspicuously. Free access to the chest and back is guaranteed. The design is as streamlined as possible, but as efficient as necessary - and with the QASM buckles, it is also quickly put on.

The mounting on the other side of the chest. The PSLV can also be worn with a harness or straps. Behind the cover is a programmable underwater inflator, it is the brain of the system.

The inflator is powered by two 123A batteries and can perform hundreds of inflation processes with a single set. Once the user has selected the mode and parameters, the device remembers these settings for later use. The easy-to-use PSLV can be configured for soldiers, swimmers, and divers according to specific needs that are transported over water.

Incorrect inflations, as are common with other inflators, cannot occur with this device. It does not accidentally inflate in rain or waves, and it is completely airplane-safe.

An overpressure valve allows the use of CO2 cartridges of any size. Larger bottles naturally provide more buoyancy at depth, and the buoy cannot burst due to overpressure. The buoy can be reused indefinitely, as long as no holes are made in it, of course.

Furthermore, the PLSV is naturally equipped with a mouthpiece for manual inflation and a drain valve for quickly emptying the buoy. Not only practical for storage, but also to prevent potential entanglement in the water.

The design of the vest ensures that the unconscious or injured user always floats face up at the surface. A handle on the back allows for easy retrieval from the water.

The PSLV vest contours smoothly to the body, using the arms to hold the vest in place. The internal bladder is also protected from equipment on the user.

With a weight of only 1 kilogram, this versatile system provides a lift of 210 N, about 21 kg, and is often reusable - simply change the CO2 cylinder. No expensive parts are required for maintenance.

Because the PSLV can be programmed, it is extremely versatile. It can be used by anyone at risk of drowning: the automatic system also protects individuals who are incapacitated or unconscious.

Examples of applications:

  • Special Forces: Inflation can occur automatically or be delayed by a few seconds. The activation depth can be changed from the surface to 1 meter or to any depth.
  • Transport over water or embarkation: The depth and time for inflation can be set individually to avoid propellers or simply gain additional time for self-rescue.
  • Crossing rivers: Setting the depth - e.g. to 1 meter - provides protection if the soldier is pushed under water, but it will not further hinder the crossing if he dips briefly underwater.
  • Lifeguards and first responders: The small size of the PSLV allows for swimming or even boating. If the victim pulls the rescuer underwater, the vest will inflate.
  • Use with rebreather: A special mode allows for unlimited time underwater, however, the vest will inflate immediately if the programmed depth is exceeded during diving/sinking.

CONCLUSION: The PSLV is a versatile rescue collar for anyone working at or in the water. It fits perfectly with gear for emergency responders.
