REVIEW: Outdoor Research Ironsight Glove

08/15/2015By Redaktion

The company Outdoor Research (OR) probably doesn't need much of an introduction anymore, as it has been known for years for its high-quality sportswear for outdoor activities, as well as its more military line, with satisfied users in both the sporting 3-Gun and tactical fields. Today we would like to introduce you to the "Iron Sight Glove," one of the OR gloves available at HCS Soldatenausrüstung.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt is promoted as having high "tactility," which can be confirmed upon first impression. It is mainly made of spandex, making it very lightweight. Only the critical, highly stressed areas are reinforced with or made of synthetic leather. As a result, the glove is highly breathable and dries very quickly, which was particularly positive for the tester in over 36°C.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe back of the hand is additionally decorated with rubber elements, which also prevent the fabric from tearing too quickly when scraping against a wall. The glove is traditionally closed with hook and loop fastener on the back.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERANow let's move on to the palm of the hand. It is made entirely of synthetic leather and covered with small silicone areas, as seen in cross-country skiing gloves or women's underwear. These silicone areas are designed to provide a rather "sticky" grip to make the wearer's work a bit easier. What is special is that the spaces between the fingertips of the index, ring, and middle fingers are also silicone-coated. This makes these areas particularly prone to sticking together, which proved extremely positive during pistol shooting.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe gloves are cut slightly smaller, so if you usually wear a size "M," you should choose a Large. The finger length is kept rather long in this glove (contrary to, for example, Mechanix). This is particularly noticeable with the pinkie finger. The glove has been tried on and tested extensively. The pinkie finger never fit properly and was always too long for anyone who wore it.

Gloves are essentially "shoes for hands." Just like every company has different shoe lasts, this is not much different in this segment of equipment. Everyone has to find the brand that fits them best.

CONCLUSION: Therefore, the "Iron Sight Glove" has some good details that make it useful for use. Especially for those with longer fingers who find most gloves "too short," this glove is worth considering.

The Outdoor Research Ironsight Glove is available in Coyote and Black at HCS Soldatenausrüstung for 47.95 euros.
