No, this is not a Viennese company selling these pants. UR-TACTICAL is based in the Far East, even though the slang of the Austrian capital allows for a nice joke: "Heast oida, des is jo urtactical!" (For our German friends: "Listen, dude, that's super tactical!") - It is, but back to the topic: The OPS Fast Response Pants in AOR2 is the first "nice price" pants in AOR2 that we have come across. Above you can admire them from the front and back, below we explain what makes the OPS Pants special. (All images clickable to enlarge.)

The leg and the waistband: The pocket configuration is unique. There is a larger small pocket on the buttocks, which one would otherwise expect on the thigh. At the front, there is a small inner pocket that can be closed with a flap, the access to the trouser pocket is almost horizontal. In total, there are eight pockets on the pants. There is a Velcro strap at the waistband (visible at the top right) to tighten the pants. At the bottom of the leg, there is a small "magazine pocket" (driver's magazine). In the knee bend, you can see the Velcro, which allows the pants to be tightened at the knees and at the lower end, it is clearly Coyote Brown.

The knee area with the protectors: the half-moon-shaped fabric arch under which the pocket for the knee pad is partially located is clearly visible. It is inserted at the bottom - where the Velcro is visible - through the slot, and then the Velcro strap can be tightened at the back of the knee. The knee pad does not have a hard shell, like the Crye AC protectors, it is made of foam covered in black.

The fabric arch above the knee is a unique construction, because when lifted, you can see the 4-way stretch fabric underneath, which - like a Crye AC Pant - is still there. Is the arch supposed to protect the stretch? We do not know. It probably wouldn't be necessary, as the stretch fabric is of good quality and quite firm. It is also interesting that a strip of hard plastic is sewn into the protective arch - we try to make it clearly visible in the image above by pressing it with our hand. It is supposed to prevent the pants from wearing out when kneeling. This is what the Crye knee protectors with plastic caps try to prevent.

CONCLUSION: The OPS Fast Response Pants are the first AOR2 pants beyond Crye that are in a reasonable price-performance ratio. They are very well made and made of authentic AOR2 material: 50/50 NYCO. The color matches. The design is from OPS: with eight pockets, there is room for everything you want to carry. The knee pads are integrated and serve their purpose. One appealing aspect of OPS is the precise sizing information on the order page, so the customer can be sure that they are getting the right fit.

OPS Fast Response Pants are available at UR-TACTICAL for $140.
