When you have both of them, you have to compare them: on the left a real DEVGRU helmet - the Ops-Core Maritime AOR1, HERE in the SPARTANAT Review - next to it, the bowl that makes the hearts of the MilSim generation beat faster: TMC Maritime Helmet in AOR1.
There they are side by side, DEVGRU and the clone. On the left is the real and genuine NVG Shroud from Wilcox, on the right a general Shroud in a passable replica.
This is what the TMC manufacturer images look like. The helmet is quite passable for what it is supposed to be. It has absolutely no ballistic function, but looks very nice - like the original.
Top replica from TMC, bottom ballistics helmet from Ops-Core. You can see color differences on the rail, but it has genuine manufacturer markings. The DEVGRU helmet also has the "Budweiser" - the eagle of the Navy SEALs - very finely in the crease. Missing from the replica, but there was also a version with the eagle and the rails available for purchase separately.
Color comparison, notice the pattern and color difference between the two helmets. The difference in water transfer only really stands out when you have them side by side.
Original on the left, MilSim clone on the right. Even the velcro has a slightly different shade.
The two brain buckets from a different angle side by side. TMC is only available in one size, which is supposed to go up to size 60. The genuine one here is an L/XL for big heads.
Here you can already see the difference in sizes, between M/L and L/XL. And the ballistic helmet is green on the inside because it's made of Aramid. The clone on the left is a brown plastic bowl.
Comparison of the thickness of the shells, quite similar. Also note the dipped edge on both... The Styrofoam on the forehead looks very similar...
At the back, the clone looks remarkably good.
We could also discuss which Manta Strobe is real. Small tip: only one of them.
Here are both helmets seen from behind.
CONCLUSION: TMC has nothing to be ashamed of. A good clone for those who don't need a real helmet and don't want to spend $3,500.
You can get the TMC Maritime AOR1 from various sports retailers. It costs between $60 and $120. You won't get the real one...
