REVIEW: Novritsch Hot Weather Boonie

When it's hot outside, it's good to have a breathable hat on your head. That's exactly what the Hot Weather Boonie from Novritsch does. We tested it extensively during the current heatwave.

In terms of cut, the Hot Weather Boonie is the classic USGI Boonie with a few upgrades.

The first improvement can be found on the back. Here you have MOLLE/PALS and Velcro available. What you attach to it is up to you, but definitely a good feature.

The second improvement is the use of mesh fabric instead of dense fabric. This airy fabric has been installed on the front and sides. This allows the heat that normally builds up under the hat to be dissipated well. This is especially noticeable when there is a light breeze.

The size adjustment is done with an elastic band, which works perfectly. Our tester has a hat size of 58 and the S/M Boonie just fit. For those who prefer it a little looser, the L/XL is a better choice from size 58 onwards.

CONCLUSION: We really like the Hot Weather Boonie. A small drawback is the lack of a chin strap, but that can be quickly DIY. The fit of the Hot Weather Boonie is very good and the ventilation does what it's supposed to do. By the way, our Boonie is in the fantastic "Viper" pattern.
