REVIEW: Novritsch 3D Ghillie Boonie Gen2

Easter is right around the corner. Camouflage is important, who wants to be discovered while hunting for eggs. We are big fans of boonies, and if they also have a camouflage effect, that's already half the battle. We took a close look at the new 3D Ghillie Boonie Gen2 from NOVRITSCH. Before anyone says, "Ew, Airsoft," camouflage is value-free, just like us.

Let's start with a search image. Who can find the boonie?

Okay, let's make it a bit easier, here's the same boonie on a head. What stands out are the sewn-on leaves and the mesh fabric.

The 3D Ghillie Boonie Gen2 is multi-layered, which makes it heavier than normal boonies. Here we have turned it inside out, so the inner part is facing outwards. The base material has a camouflage print in the style of Mossy Oak, which is not a bad thing. The cut is very classic and simply fits.

The cap is made only from the mesh fabric printed in the same pattern, allowing for good ventilation.

When held against the sun, this is very visible. The leaves are also made of a very fine mesh fabric that reminds us of the Ghosthood - HERE is our SPARTANAT review.

The 3D Ghillie Boonie Gen2 already camouflages itself well on the appropriate surface, but to perfect the camouflage, it is also equipped with a total of six rubber loops. You can attach additional natural or artificial camouflage material to these. A practical feature.

The fit can be individually adjusted to fit your own head using a drawstring. We don't quite agree with the statement "One size fits all". For people with a head circumference beyond 64cm, the boonie simply no longer fits. We have a head circumference of 59 cm and the 3D Ghillie Boonie Gen2 fits quite snugly. So we would describe the size as "One size fits most".

CONCLUSION: The 3D Ghillie Boonie Gen2 positively surprised us, we have to admit. At first, we were very skeptical whether an "Airsoft" product could be any good, but the Boonie definitely delivers. The materials and craftsmanship are of a very high standard, and the camouflage effect is really good in autumn/spring forests. Unfortunately, it's not IR-Safe, but at this price, that shouldn't be expected. The 3D Ghillie Boonie Gen2 convinced us, the guys from NOVRITSCH not only play, they know what they're doing.
