Hearing protection is important and should therefore be worn often. However, longer wear times can become uncomfortable. Especially when safety glasses are used in combination with the standard foam pads. Noisefighters have made it their mission to combat this and improve the noise reduction of hearing protection. We took a closer look at them and extensively tested how the gel pads compare.
The delivery was made by Oberland Arms. There is some information on the back, but more on that later.
Once unpacked, they are quickly mounted, provided you have ordered the correct model for your hearing protection. Here they are already in use on MSA Sordin Supreme Pro. At the top, one immediately notices the cutout for the glasses.
The glasses temple is supposed to be placed in the cutout. This way, it does not break the seal of the hearing protection and the temple does not press while wearing. In the picture, you can see the ESS ICE Naro.
When wearing the hearing protection with the pads, you hardly notice any difference. However, you do feel it more. The hearing protection is generally worn lower than usual and the glasses temple is then pushed into the canal from above. It sounds more complicated than it actually is.
You can definitely feel an improvement with these gel pads compared to conventional pads. To make sure, we wore the hearing protection for a whole day, around ten hours, with six hours straight without taking it off.
We can reliably say that the glasses channel shows its effect! No headaches, no painful pressure points, and an improved feeling while wearing the hearing protection. But now for the direct comparison. From left to right: original pad, MSA Sordin Gel Pad, and the Noisefighters Gel Pad.
A test with the finger shows how soft the standard foam pads are. They serve their purpose, but in the long run, they become somewhat uncomfortable.
The original MSA Gel Pads are slightly softer than the Noisefighters. Due to the silicone in the pad, they fit better on the face than the foam pads and therefore provide better seal. Unless you wear glasses...
The Noisefighters are also very pleasantly soft and have the additional advantage of the cutout for glasses. Otherwise, they are very similar to the original Gel Pads in terms of comfort and seal without glasses.
CONCLUSION: The Noisefighters Gel Pads are definitely worth the money and a good investment in hearing protection. The seal is improved and the comfort is greatly increased, especially when wearing glasses. Depending on the model, the Noisefighters Gel Pads may even be the cheaper upgrade compared to the original Gel Pads from the respective manufacturer. The Noisefighters are available in various designs to support a wide range of earmuffs. The price for the ones shown is 49 Euro and they are available directly HERE at Oberland Arms.
