NEXTORCH produces not only very good flashlights but also weapon lights. Today we want to take a closer look at the WL30 laser light module.
The technical data of the WL30 in a nice table:
All in all, these specifications are quite promising. The shape of the WL30 is rather bulky due to the additional lasers. By unscrewing the lamp head, you can access the battery compartment. It is powered by a CR123A battery.
The integrated mount can be adjusted easily. The crosspiece/clamping screw can be moved so that it fits perfectly on your pistol or Picatinny rails. Simple, yet well designed, we must admit.
With the WL30, the position of the lasers near the barrel is well thought out, giving you a lower offset.
The operation is done via a toggle switch and two push buttons. The paddles are relatively small, but still easy to operate. We think the relatively high spring resistance is well chosen. This prevents accidental activation.
To activate the white light of the WL30, simply push the toggle down and the light turns on. You have to press the lever down about 3mm for "Momentary On". For continuous light, you need to press the lever further until you hear a noticeable click. This takes a relatively long distance of around 6mm. It sounds small, but feels much longer. After a short period of adjustment, this becomes less noticeable and the white light of the WL30 is easy to operate.
What we find less favorable are the activation switches of the lasers. These are located at the bottom left and right of the lamp. The left switch activates the IR laser and the right switch activates the green laser. You can somewhat operate the left one with your thumb while on target. There is no "momentary" mode, so you press the switch and the laser is on - until you press it again.
On the other hand, you would have to operate the right switch with your trigger finger, or change your gun grip, neither of which is the optimal solution. This could be due to the fact that the WL30 is quite far from the trigger guard on a Glock. It might be closer on other pistols, making it easier to operate the laser switches.
The lasers themselves are very useful and create a nice point. You can also activate both at the same time if you want.
What is not possible at the same time is adjusting the lasers. This is done using the small screws on the side and left and right next to the lamp head.
In our tests, the lasers have held their adjustment and the white light has impressed us.
CONCLUSION: We were very impressed with the WL30 as a tactical pistol white light and we can definitely recommend it for that purpose. Unfortunately, we did not like the operation of the lasers at all, but we did appreciate the positioning of the lasers close to the barrel, or closer to the sight line. Overall, the Nextorch WL30 is a good white light, well-made, and does what it's supposed to do. Very convincing price-performance ratio.
You can get the Nextorch WL30 for example at the Shooting Store Austria for 269 euros
