REVIEW: Nextorch TA 30

12/07/2017By Redaktion

Light in the darkness, so that the darkness clears and what is hidden in the shadows can be seen. Very poetic, but that's pretty much the purpose of any flashlight. Today we want to introduce you to the TA 30 from Nextorch and draw your attention to the special features of this flashlight.
What you get: The TA30 comes with a lanyard, a removable clip, and a CR 123 battery holder. Everything looks very high quality and feels also qualitatively high.

The only screw-off part is the end cap. Inside the housing, there is space for two CR123 batteries or one 18650 battery. So you have a choice ...

A short excursion on the battery: This is a USB rechargeable power storage. It can be charged with the included USB cable or a normal mobile charger with a micro USB plug. The battery has a charging indicator with an integrated LED. We think this is an extremely useful upgrade for the TA 30, especially because the CR123 battery is expensive in our regions.

On the lens crown, there are 3 small knobs. These are the ceramic glass breakers, which can take on any pane, or can also be used as opinion enhancers.

The operation of the TA30 is something different from what you know from other lamps. It has a push button and a rotary switch. The push button has two non-locking pressure levels. The first pressure point makes the lamp shine with 1100 lumens, and with further pressing to the second pressure point, the lamp goes into strobe mode.

The rotary switch has a total of five positions and is responsible for continuous operation. The scale ranges from Low (15 lumens) - Medium (160 lumens) - High to Strobe (both 1,100 lumens). The push button can always be activated in case bright and/or flashing light is needed quickly. This solution is very well thought out.

The flashlight is 13.5 cm long and has a diameter of ~2.4 cm, making it fit perfectly in the hand. Even with gloves, operation is no problem and is also very stress-resistant.

A few more pictures to illustrate the brightness of the flashlight. All were taken with the same exposure time. Here in the picture the setting Low with 15 lumens.

Medium with 160 lumens. Noticeably brighter. The three spikes at the edge of the light cone come from the glass breakers.

High with the full 1,100 lumens. Very bright and also long-range. In the brightest setting, a range of up to 250 m is possible. So a small searchlight.

CONCLUSION: A flashlight that has really surprised us positively. The operating mechanism is extremely well thought out and simple. The light output is more than adequate. In addition, this flashlight offers very good value for money: high performance at a fair price. The TA30 is suitable for both EDC and tactical use.
