REVIEW: Mystery Ranch SATL Made in Philippines

Now Mystery Ranch is starting to produce cheaply abroad….WRONG! The company has thought about how to effectively serve the non-American market and has opened a production facility in Clark Field, Philippines. Some models of the product line are manufactured here with the same materials under American quality control.

Since we have already introduced the SATL, we will not go into detail here, as they are exactly the same.

When you take a closer look at the Philippine model, you can see the same good workmanship and quality as you know from the US SATL. This is because the backpacks are manufactured to the same standards as in America - Mystery Ranch does not allow any mistakes and even offers the same warranty. At IWA, we were able to speak with an MR employee who said that colleagues can only distinguish the backpacks by the label in terms of production country.

In terms of price, the two are almost the same when using the current dollar exchange rate. The US model costs $465, which currently equates to 413€, and the Philippine model costs 399€. Of course, this calculation does not include shipping and customs from the USA.

It should be noted that there is a Youtube video showing an MR ASAP (also from Clark Field) with a catastrophic workmanship. However, this is the only negative thing found on this topic across the entire internet. Additionally, warranty with MR should not be a problem.

CONCLUSION: About a year ago, we bought a Mystery Ranch SATL from Clark Field at Marinesshop and used it. There is absolutely no difference in appearance or feel compared to the US model except for the label. Ultimately, it is up to the user to decide what to buy, whether they need Berry Compliant or if a product from Asia is sufficient, there is no difference in quality - at least with Mystery Ranch.
