When monkeys collaborate with tactical tailors then ... the result is the Lightweight Assault Pack from Mil-Spec Monkey in cooperation with Tactical Tailor. This adaptable backpack is about the size of a school backpack and perfect for military as well as civilian use.
First, the backpack can be changed from a classic 2-strap carrying system to 1 strap on both sides! The remaining strap can be clipped off and stored invisibly in the rear hydration compartment. The adjustability of the straps leaves nothing to be desired and the pads rest comfortably. The top carry handle on the backpack also gives a very solid and sturdy impression.
One feature that is quite useful for military use is the hardwires, which are mounted on the top (left: with mouse-clips) and bottom (right top) of the backpack, allowing for secure attachment to the tactical vest. We also liked that these attachment clips can be easily removed, making them unobtrusive in civilian use or when not needed.
Directly under the shoulder straps is a hydration compartment that can be easily opened and closed with Velcro. Here, excess strap can also be easily tucked away if the Assault Pack is used in messenger bag form. In the event that the hydration compartment is not needed, it does not take up much space in the unused state and does not compromise comfort. A small detail we really liked are the tube holes above the hydration compartment on the left and right side for antennas or hoses, which can also be cleverly covered with a small Velcro area (bottom right).
The main compartment has stretchable bottle holders on the left and right. A slightly larger one on the left and a slightly smaller one on the right. The loops for opening and closing the backpack are double knotted and give a very solid and high-quality impression.
The front of the Lightweight Assault Pack has sewn-on webbing on the side and front, allowing for additional pouches to be attached. Additionally, a large Velcro area provides ample space for patches. A shock cord on the front of the backpack allows jackets, pullovers, or similar items to be securely stored. As a final treat, the front compartment can be opened on both sides and is equipped with Velcro on the back to allow for the attachment of additional tactical accessories or other items.
The pack is available in Coyote Brown, Ranger Green, Foliage Green, Multicam, Black, and Urban.
CONCLUSION: The Lighweight Assault Pack, produced by Mil-Spec Monkey in cooperation with Tactical Tailor, is a truly successful piece of gear that has definitely found its rightful place in both civilian and military use. It offers all the functions one expects and even surprises with additional features that we appreciate. A pack for everyday use!
You can buy the MSM Adapt Pack on Mil-Spec Monkey's website for an affordable $99 (excluding shipping) or directly in Germany at GEARMANIACS.
