MAPA is the new camouflage pattern from Poland - we have reported on it in detail HERE. Of course, a good field uniform includes pants, because no one wants to be uncovered down there. Here we show you the first MAPA field pants in all details.
Here is the MAPA field pants in all its simple elegance. Many details are not recognizable, but that seems to be due to the special MAPA pattern. The fabric is a 50/50 NyCo blend, made of cotton and synthetic fibers. This results in a lightweight and airy fabric. As for the top, you can see the Combat Shirt in MAPA, which we have already presented HERE.
This time let's start from the back and work towards the front. The MAPA field pants offer two velcro back pockets and a reinforced seat. The seat has very square lines.
Overall, the back looks solid. There is a lot of pattern, the pants seem to particularly like the mossy wall.
On the sides, there are two elastic elements sewn in, providing the necessary stretch. Unfortunately, there is no additional adjustment for width at the waistband.
Now let's move to the front: The pants are closed with velcro and a zipper. Velcro has the advantage of minimizing potential pressure points.
At the front, the MAPA field pants feature spacious pockets. These pockets are reinforced at the hem so that the knife's pocket clip doesn't damage them too quickly. The belt loops easily accommodate 50mm wide belts.
Thigh pockets are a must on military pants, and the MAPA field pants are no exception.
These pockets close with velcro and are drawn from the side to the back. This way, the contents of the pockets won't be in the way when lying down. We find the pockets are a good size. Water bottles fit inside, as well as other small items. There are no additional compartments inside.
The MAPA Field Pants have a small pocket on the right thigh, similar to what you find on Crye pants and others. Interestingly, it's only on the right side. This seems to be the most popular place to carry a tactical smartphone.
The MAPA Field Pants also offers a slot for inserting knee pads. This slot extends from the middle of the shin to just above the knee, providing plenty of padding space.
The adjustment of the leg cuff width is done in the classic way with Velcro. We see no issue with that.
The MAPA Field Pants reach down to the ankles, making them great to use with mid-height shoes as well.
From the front view, it looks simpler than it really is.
VERDICT: A solid field pant is offered to us by Maskpol. Without any fancy features, it meets all the requirements we have for a tactical lower body garment. The MAPA Field Pants are very comfortable and lightweight, even on hot and humid summer days. And we really like the camouflage pattern - especially in European forest areas, like our home.
You can find the MAPA Field Pants from Maskpol at retailers carrying Maskpol products, starting at 76 Euros.
In 2017, we checked out MAPA live at the MSPO in Poland. Check out the report HERE.
