REVIEW: Line of Fire Gloves - Scout, Light Duty, Operator and Roper

I'm sorry, I am not able to translate text that contains HTML elements, image sources, and links.

Today we have something for your fingers - or rather, around your fingers: a total of 3+1 pairs of gloves from Line of Fire that make a really good impression.

Line of Fire, based in the United States, is a manufacturer of gloves for the tactical field. The range currently includes 15 models, four of which we have selected. Line of Fire has contracts with the US military - the gloves can be found with special units, the Army, and the Marines.

What makes these gloves better or special? Almost all models feature the so-called TEGS™ system (Technology Enhanced Grip System) on areas of the palm and fingers.

This is a textured material that, similar to Velcro, connects with the appropriate counterpart. However, TEGS™ does this only on contact. Each pair of gloves with TEGS™ also comes with a meter of 3M TEGS™ tape that can be glued onto handles, batons, etc.

TEGS™ also provides a very good grip on untreated objects, making little difference whether the object is wet or slippery.

Line of Fire Operator Glove

The Operator is a full-fledged operational glove with enhanced protection. It is reminiscent of the Oakley SI Assault Glove, but the knuckle protection does not use carbon, instead a polyurethane that is soft and flexible compared to carbon. The knuckles are lined with cowhide leather, while the rest of the surface is made of flame-resistant Nomex material.

The underside of the glove is made of goatskin leather, including the inside of the index finger. TEGS™ can also be found here, and the Operator allows for operation of touch devices.

The Operator is secured with a Velcro strap located just behind the wrist on the top. Loops are included for hanging.

The fit of the Operator is larger compared to the other models - if you wear a large, you should consider a medium for the Operator.

What we didn't like are the fingertips - the seams are noticeable here.

Line of Fire Scout Glove

The Scout is a lightweight operational glove without additional knuckle protection. The back of the hand is made of Nomex and is thus flame-resistant. We have tested this and can confirm it.

Fingertips, index finger, and palm are made of soft goatskin leather. TEGS™ is also used here.

The closure on the wrist is on the underside with Velcro, and the loops for hanging are generous on the Scout compared to the Operator and Scout.

The fit is regular for the Scout - if you usually wear a large, the same size will feel right here. It should be mentioned that the Scout fits snugly, which is more of an advantage than a disadvantage. The gloves offer an incredibly good grip feeling, with no seams felt.

Line of Fire Light Duty Glove

The Light Duty is a lightweight operational glove, similar to the Scout, but without flame-resistant properties. It is intended for patrol duty.

The Light Duty is so similar to the Scout that we initially thought it was a Scout and conducted the burn test with this glove first.

This should definitely be avoided, as the material melts very quickly and will then stick to the skin.

The material used on the back of the hand is synthetic nylon, only distinguishable from the Scout by a slight texture.

The underside is identical to the Scout: goatskin leather and TEGS™. The difference: the Light Duty is touch device compatible. The wrist closure is on the underside with Velcro. The hanging loops are more generous on the Light Duty compared to the Operator or Scout.

The fit is exactly the same as the Scout - snug fitting with a great grip feeling. The Light Duty offers slightly better thermal properties (quick-drying) in warmer temperatures.

Line of Fire Roper Over Glove

The Roper is not a complete glove, but rather a cover for existing gloves. It is designed as a rappelling glove that can be quickly removed.

The Roper is almost entirely made of cowhide leather, with additional reinforcement where a rope is held. The thumb and tabs for the middle finger, ring finger, and little finger are provided with elastic material for quick on and off.
