One must have it when one needs it: that applies not only, but especially for first aid in emergency situations. The IFAK has become standard, providing invaluable help for self and buddy aid. Above all, it must be said often enough: it can save lives. The Lindnerhof Taktik Medic Bag H1 in the 2018 version is the current IFAK solution from the gear manufacturer from Bavaria. Let's take a look at it for you.
Twice Lindnerhof: on the left is the equipment for the group first aider in the Austrian Armed Forces, on the right is the new Lindnerhof Taktik Medic Bag H1 - 2018, which individualizes first aid. Everyone carries their IFAK with them and everyone can help - themselves and their buddy. that's progress.
Comparison with the HUSAR Witchdoc IFAK - HERE in the SPARTANAT Review - which we are currently using. The dimensions are different. HUSAR is thicker and bigger and somewhat reminiscent of the ITS Tactical Fatboy. The vertical position seems to save space on the belt, but the horizontal one from Lindnerhof fits better to the body. Lindnerhof comes filled at a size of 186 x 128 x 57mm. Moreover, it's a featherweight: the Medic Bag H1 weighs 91 grams.
Strip it, baby: All of this is inside the IFAK. This is the training kit from ITS Tactical, which can be conveniently ordered from across the pond to stay fresh when playing with the material. In emergency situations, every action counts, so: practice!
Lindnerhof Taktik goes the minimalist route. "Spartan" is what you might say in this case, and we like that. The H1 consists of two parts: the belt loop and the inner pocket. The former is essentially just the "transport rocket" for the "capsule" where everything you saw above goes into.
H1 attaches to the MOLLE belt with LHT Laser-Cut PALS loops, which are reinforced at the front and counter-looped.
The belt pouch has Velcro on both sides: one on the outside, so you can attach a medic patch to it, and the other on the inside. This secures the bag inside the bag.
And there's a flexible loop to secure the items in the pull-out pocket.
Stuff it, pack it. And we actually manage to fit everything you saw lying on the ground into the Lindnerhof IFAK.
Add the IR-reflection medic patch on the front, then tuck the pull-out pocket back into the shell.
Remember: there's an inner Velcro security. Inserting Velcro on Velcro is always cumbersome, especially when everything is already well-filled. The trick: slide the patient card in, it separates the two Velcro surfaces. Once everything is in place, remove the card. Velcro sticks and holds.
Now attach it to the belt: in this case, the PALS lamination of the Lindnerhof bag is inserted into a War Belt from Crye Precision.
Finally, insert the thick end back into the PALS system of the H1, securing it firmly. Above you can see a small piece of fabric mounted at the end of the PALS loop. Pull on it, and everything opens easily so you can remove the bag. Nothing lasts forever, belts need to be rebuilt every now and then.
This is the Lindnerhof Taktik Medic Bag H1 - 2018 in its natural environment: on the back of a man, where it quietly waits until its time comes. In case of emergency, it can be pulled out on both sides, to the right or to the left. The grip loops are also easy to operate with gloves.
