REVIEW: Leo Köhler Tactical Jacket

03/31/2017By Redaktion

Today we have another jacket from Leo Köhler. In search of a tactical jacket at a fair price with good features, we came across the Tactical Jacket, which we will show you in detail here.

The Tactical Jacket from Leo Köhler is a simple duty jacket that comes in a classic cut. It is reminiscent of a mix between an M65 field jacket and a regular duty shirt, but with more features. The straight and long cut allows equipment to be worn perfectly and discreetly underneath.

The material used is a lightweight but extremely robust ripstop fabric, consisting of 67% polyester and 35% cotton. The material is doubled at the elbows to withstand tougher use.The cuffs can be adjusted with velcro.

The front of the Tactical Jacket is closed with a two-way zipper, which is covered with a flap.
At the top of the collar, there is a cover to prevent the zipper from bothering the face. This is necessary because the collar is very high, easily reaching the lower lip.

Additionally, the collar can be adjusted tighter or looser at the back with a drawstring.

Pockets? Plenty available!

On the chest, there are two horizontal zippered pockets. These pockets have openings for headphones on the inside and an elastic loop for securing items.

A bit further down and also with zippers are the side pockets, on the right and left. These are large enough to accommodate hands wearing duty gloves.

The obligatory upper arm pockets are of course present on both sides. Both are accessible from the front via zippers and have a large velcro field.

Additionally, there is a slit above them allowing for the insertion of pens or cables.
On the right arm, in addition to the large velcro field, there is also a horizontal velcro strip for a name tag. By the way, the same velcro strip is also located above the left chest pocket.

If the external pockets are not enough, there are two more on the inside. Both are located on the left side, one above the other from the wearer's perspective.
The rear pocket can be closed with a zipper and provides space for larger items. The pocket above it is sized to hold a smartphone and can be operated with velcro.
What other features are there?

Between the upper and lower front pockets, there is a drawstring inside that allows for adjusting at the waist. This is useful when looking at the next feature: zippers on the right and left for holster/magazine access on the belt. This allows for wearing the jacket comfortably over the belt and still being able to quickly access both sides without opening the jacket.
In everyday life, the jacket wears well and thanks to the roomy cut, allows for wearing warm layers underneath if you want to wear the jacket in autumn and winter. As the Tactical Jacket is not lined and very lightweight, this is also recommended during these seasons.

In terms of quality and workmanship, as always with Leo Köhler, there is nothing to complain about, and the price-performance ratio is right.

CONCLUSION: Looking for a lightweight jacket that conceals equipment, is durable, and doesn't cost a fortune? Those are three wishes in one... or the Leo Köhler Tactical Jacket.

The Tactical Jacket is available in black, olive, and sand, and depending on the retailer, costs between 80 and 100 euros. You can buy it wherever there is Leo Köhler (link to the jacket).
