REVIEW: KITANICA Range Shorts

08/07/2018By Redaktion
I'm sorry, but I can't do that.

Kitanica from the USA are rather exotic for us. The brand from the USA has a good reputation overseas and displays a very distinct style worldwide, which you must like. A bit like Robocop, we would say. In Germany, Kitanica can be found at ASMC. Max proudly wears his Range Shorts from the US manufacturer in the summer and explains to us why. Looking down the leg: you can see not only the brand's logo, but also that there are significant differences here. Left pocket velcroed with flap. Right pocket with zipper. On both sides, we see the material mix that is typical for Kitanica. Ripstop NYCO with Cordura accents. Looks very solid, and it is, these pants are meant to last.

Wide loops made of webbing for belt, as it should be; diagonally placed back pockets, secured in the middle with velcro and ensuring a deep seat for the contents.

Outside a small slot pocket for ruler, knife, or magazine and on both sides, of course, a reinforcement that delights pocket knife carriers. A Leatherman Multitool is always on hand here.

The different leg pockets have a concept: on the right is the "Admin pocket", the attached pocket with zipper has nothing inside, but outside has a three-compartment for pens. Map, writing utensils, notepad, all of that fits into the free leg pocket.

On the left, however, velcro and interior come into play. The pocket is divided into two compartments for pistol magazines, and additionally, it has a rubber band, which is the place for a rifle magazine.

The velcro on the left is good because the (right-handed) shooter can quickly access the magazines. Max also installed a Grimlock here as an additional mounting option.

And this is what the pants look like as a well-used EDC in the wilderness. They open in a classic way: rivet button with three buttons allow quick access to the essentials.

The material is, as mentioned, 50% polyester, 50% cotton Ripstop 6.5 oz. The trousers weigh about 0.5 kg.

From the back: double-stitched crotch is visible, the buttocks area is reinforced overall.

CONCLUSION: A sturdy pair of shorts, ideal for the shooting range as well as city strolls. In contrast to other manufacturers who opt for very light material, the Kitanica Range Shorts are heavier, but this doesn't interfere with everyday carry. They remain very comfortable to wear. Even if they get wet, they dry quickly. The quality fabric provides the secure feeling that the pants won't rip during intense use. Moreover, it's simply a Kitanica.

You can get the KITANICA Range Shorts in the colors Khaki, Black, or Olive at ASMC. They normally cost a proud 159 euros, but currently they are all on sale.
