Sometimes it's just about the simple things in life. When it comes to knives, for example, it doesn't have to be the exotic blade number one or the secret top-class manufacturer. Both usually end up in the showcase. We want something for the field. "Basic Military" is the statement from Kevin Wilkins, available at G-Gear. We took a look at this knife for you.
The Basic Military is 23.2 centimeters long and has a Full Tang. The surface has a light stonewash, so you don't see all the work marks. The data for the Basic Military:
Steel: Sandvik 14C28N Stainless
Total length: 23.2 cm
Blade length: 11 cm
Blade thickness: 0.42 cm
Handle material: G10 black or Micarta black, olive, desert tan or melamine
Included is the Specops Combat Master Mini sheath made of Cordura. You can choose between Black and Coyote for the sheath. There are also several color options for the Micarta handle, as mentioned above.
The sheath has a small outer compartment. This can hold a sharpening stone, but can also be a small multitool. The Basic Military is already a very good multitool itself. With its very pleasing handle shape, it fits extremely well in the hand.
Well thought-out sheaths are half the fun: this one can be hung on the belt, attached horizontally with paracord, or secured with MOLLE on the armor.
CONCLUSION: An extremely solid knife, a work blade that forgives a lot and wants to be used properly in action. No gimmicks, no frills, just a good knife. In two words: Basic Military.
The Kevin Wilkins Basic Military is available at G-Gear for 235 euros.
