REVIEW: Kahles K16i 1-6x24 Rifle Scope

In deep mourning, we say goodbye to the Kahles K15i riflescope, it left us quietly and discreetly, we will miss it. But only for a brief moment, because a new candidate is taking its place - with 1-6×24, the K16i is THE new glass when it comes to highest speed in close range and razor-sharp precision at long distances. Here's the riflescope in review.

Kahles doesn't sleep. The rapid development of 1-x riflescopes is making particularly fast strides in the sporty sector - especially in the low-price segment, a lot has surprisingly happened here in the last two years. 1-6x riflescopes are already available starting at 300€, they are also quite okay: At least until you've looked through a Kahles.

The K16i has almost the same specifications as its predecessor. We are still baffled that the new Kahles with a higher magnification can have the same dimensions and weight as the K15i. How do they do that?

As mentioned before, the K16i comes with a magnification of true 1x up to maximum 6x. The weight is 480 grams, with a length of 27.8 centimeters and a main tube diameter of 30mm. The front lens is 24mm wide, while the eyepiece measures 39mm. The extremely generous eye relief of 95mm remains, as well as the immensely large eyebox - making shooting at 1x absolutely competitive with a reflex sight, even in suboptimal shooting positions.

Technical data at a glance:

Click adjustment per click: 0.36 inch (100yds)

10 mm

.1 MIL

Adjustment range (H/S): 2.2 / 2.2 m

Main tube diameter: 30 mm

Length: 278 mm

Weight: 480 g

Reticle in image plane: 2

Illuminate: yes

The mechanical functions and design have also been completely taken over: For those who have not read the K15i review, here are the details.

The adjustment turrets are protected by waterproof caps. When removed, the click adjustments are 0.36 inch at 100 yards. The adjustment range is 2.2 meters in both directions.

This allows you to adjust the vertical and horizontal impact points. After adjusting to the rifle, you can loosen the center screw with a coin, a sleeve, or a screwdriver to set the scale to 0.

This will then set your zero at e.g. 100 meters and you can adjust for further distances. When turned back to zero, you will have the preset point of impact at 100 meters again.

The cap of the horizontal adjustment turret also serves as a holder for a spare battery. If the Kahles runs out of power, the light goes out, but thanks to the etched reticle, the riflescope can still be used. But first, both batteries must be drained.

The illumination is continuously adjustable and clearly visible even in bright daylight.

To adjust the magnification, a fin is attached to the ring, ensuring a secure grip and lightning-fast change from 1x to 6x. This also works very well with gloves.

Naturally, a good scope should have diopter adjustment. Here, adjustment can be made on the eyepiece from +2 to -3.5 dpt.

The housing is slim, extremely robust, and designed for the sporty sector. In other words, the thing can take a beating - since we only had a loan product, we cannot further evaluate it.

Moving on to the field of view. As expected, it is a bit smaller than with the K15i, but that's because the field of view logically shrinks as the magnification increases. At 1x, it's still an incredible 42.3 meters and at 6x, 6.7 meters - only 1.3 meters less than the K15i. So in plain language, at 1x you can see ... everything, thanks to the flat builds and wide field of view.

The glass is incredibly sharp, bright, and crisp. This doesn't change even at 6x magnification.

When it comes to the reticle, you have the choice between three variations: SM1, SI1, and GB4.
