Who doesn't know this? Just at the most inconvenient moment, you run out of ammunition. Or gasoline for the chainsaw, or lawn mower. It's good to have the right reserve to reach for. The "War Sword" is one such reserve.
KA-BAR is known for their expertise in the field of popular knives, so we took a quick look at the War Sword from their Zombie Killer line.First of all, the neon-colored handle scales are immediately noticeable from a distance. As it should be - safety first - you want to be able to find your knife with certainty even in the dark of the apocalypse.
The knife has a solid blade thickness of 5mm. Its handy length of 39cm makes it surprisingly controllable, as the center of gravity is just below the ricasso. Therefore, it is quite maneuverable, almost like a sax, and therefore also perfect for various kali techniques. This is unfortunately all too rarely the case with most knives of this size today. The handle itself is large enough to be comfortably gripped by even the largest hands.
However, the War Sword doesn't come alone. It comes with the 16cm small and 3mm thick "Acheron" Skeleton Knife, which is neatly enclosed as a bonus before the actual knife.
The knife case is made of Cordura with two simple, inserted plastic sheaths for puncture protection.
The knife case has an 8cm wide belt loop and eight rows of MOLLE on the back to be able to mount the knife on both the leg and the equipment. In addition, the War Sword comes with a neon green shoelace and black handle scales to switch (for those who prefer it a bit "more serious". But who wants that?), as well as a pair of spare screws.
However, the absolute highlight of the knife is the front pocket. Equipped with a velcro surface, it is actually large enough to carry spare ammunition, or - quite coincidentally - a 0.5l can of your favorite hop tea. Logical: After all, killing zombies is not only fun, but also incredibly thirst-inducing.
CONCLUSION: Nowadays, zombies have to serve for all sorts of things. Apart from that, with the "War" Sword, KaBar offers a practical large-bladed knife that is to be taken seriously, even if it is packaged in a fun style.
The KaBar Zombie Killer "War" Sword is available from $65.
