We report so often about target optics, it's time to introduce the mounts for them. Today we show you a mount from the company Innomount, which will certainly find its home on precision rifles from caliber .308 upwards.

We first noticed the Innomount Tactical Mount at IWA2016. The next contact was a test mount for mini red dot sights, which we could examine in detail. We have already shown you the Innomount mounts for hunting rifles like Blaser, Tikka, Merkel, etc. for the Holosun sights we presented.

While just a few years ago one had to look abroad for high-precision mounts like Spuhr, Larue Tactical or American Defense, there is now finally another manufacturer with quality products from Germany. The first were of course Era Tac, which are still indispensable.

Why should you consider Innomount?

The company manufactures high-tech CNC mounts that are absolutely repeatable and optionally equipped with unique quick-snap holders and other gimmicks that we will introduce in detail later.

From bottom to top: The underside of the mount shows the two clamps that are tightened using quick-snap fasteners. The double clamping force adjustment ensures repeatability and is pre-adjusted with TORX screws. The quick-snap holders themselves are recessed, and one wonders how to open them again once they are closed. Here's the trick: on the other side, there are two protruding buttons designed for that exact purpose. Pressing them not only pushes the quick-snap holder out of the recess, but also releases the clamps, but only up to a so-called dead point, so that the glass does not fall off the weapon with the mount. Now all you have to do is briefly touch it again to release the mount with the levers angled at almost 90° - the result is a lightning-fast removal from the Picatinny rail - and this is reliable even with thick gloves. At the same time, the recessed levers prevent unintentional release of the mount by catching on the strap or similar. We consider it highly unlikely that the weapon would fall on both buttons simultaneously, thus releasing the lock.

The main body is milled from solid material, so the mount naturally has a certain weight. However, in the intended applications on DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle) and sniper rifles, this is not important. Here, what matters is that the repeatability is ensured, and the manufacturing tolerances for the Picatinny rail are correct. It was manufactured strictly according to NATO STANAG 4694 std.specs - making it also backward compatible with US MIL-STD 1913.

As an option, a forward tilt for long distances can be chosen: 0 MOA is standard, 20 MOA for long distances. The forward tilt is then FIXED and not adjustable.

The manufacturer has informed us that there will soon be a patented variant called "Flex." This will allow a fixed change of the forward tilt from 0 MOA to 20 MOA or vice versa by swapping the rings.

On the rear of the mount block, a small bubble level is housed, the so-called level. It helps the shooter to avoid canting and to align the rifle properly. We think it's great that you get this tool in the basic equipment - as with the competition, you always have to buy a level separately.

The upper ring halves are secured with four TORX screws per ring. The lower half is part of the fully milled block, which speaks for stability. Our test model came in a 30mm ring size, where a height of 18mm or 23mm can be chosen, in case the objective of the scope is too large to choose the flat 18mm. Alternatively, there is of course also a 34mm variant, which can be selected with a height of 16mm and 21mm.

The upper ring halves come standard without any additional options for mounting further modules, but you can also optionally choose the ring halves with the universal interface. These cost an additional 14€ per ring half (28€ for both). If you initially decide against it, the ring halves with the interface can also be purchased as replacement parts for 38€.

The universal interface seems familiar. Right, Era Tac has a similar system. However, here, a module is attached at the 12 o'clock position (for the ring halves) with four screws, and that's the extent of the possibilities. The Innomount universal interface uses only two screws per module, but not only is there an interface at 12 o'clock, there are also interfaces on both sides for mounting modules at 45° angles.

In practice, we have shot with a scope on a .308 caliber semi-automatic and a .223 caliber. Sure, neither are the strongest calibers, and semi-automatics are not the standard for the most precise shooting, but we were not disappointed in terms of repeatability and fit. The scope was switched between the two weapons several times and then set to the values previously determined. The result was a solid shot pattern at 100/300 meters and smooth operation of the mount.

CONCLUSION: The Innomount Tactical Mount is a reliable partner for all sniper rifles with a Picatinny rail. The recessed clamping levers are a brilliant idea and help prevent snagging on protruding hooks, making access easier compared to regular clamping levers. An integrated bubble level and a widely applicable universal interface on the mounting ring complete the package, serving customers with both 30mm and 34mm. Work is still being done on accessories for the interface; currently, you can get very few parts, but the most basic parts are already available.

The Tactical Block Mount starts at 235 euros with normal screws (10mm socket). If you choose the innovative quick-snap holders, the mount costs 289€. Whether you choose 0 MOA or 20 MOA tilt, 30mm or 34mm rings, or the various heights - the price remains the same. Only the rings with the universal interface cost a bit more, adding 14€ or 28€ for two ring halves to the price of 289€.

You can get the Tactical mounts at Pfitzmaier-Jagd, to whom we thank for providing us with the mounts for testing and for their trust.
