When it comes to pistol lights, there are plenty of options to choose from. There is something for every application. Today, we want to take a closer look at a very compact pistol light, designed primarily for concealed carry, the WILD 1 from INFORCE.
The WILD 1 is the compact option in their pistol light lineup. The pistol light has a range of up to 140 meters, runs on a CR123A battery, lasts up to two hours of continuous operation with a maximum light output of 500 lumens. The Candela, according to the manufacturer, reach up to 5,000 Candela in the brightest parts, but flatly viewed, over 3,000 Candela (according to other tests and measurements) are more likely. However, we find that 3,000 Candela at 20 meters is more than bright enough.
The WILD 1 features a patented ambidextrous paddle system, which is extremely easy to use.
The paddle is positioned naturally and facilitates smooth transition of finger movements from the pistol to the paddle switch and trigger. Press and hold the paddle for more than half a second to activate the momentary mode. Quickly pressing one of the paddles activates the constant mode. This is easy for both right and left-handed shooters.
There is no strobe mode or additional brightness levels. It is a KISS (Keep It Stupid Simple) solution, which we like. This way, you can't go wrong in a stressful situation.
The profile of the WILD 1 is designed so that nothing protrudes over the pistol slide. At least with a Glock 17 and 19, this is the case. With the slimmer Slimline models, something would naturally protrude.
Mounting it on the weapon is also simple. You just need a slotted screwdriver. It holds securely and we had no issues with it.
The latch on the pistol light can be replaced with a small Allen key. You have the choice between "Universal" for Glock rails and similar patents, and "1913 Rail" for the normal Picatinny standard.
The battery is inserted from the front by unscrewing the lamp head. This way, the light does not need to be removed for a battery change.
Let's talk about brightness. According to the manufacturer, it's 500 lumens with something between 3,000 and 5,000 candela. We think that's very good for such a compact light. Here, the dark cellar is perfectly lit at 20 meters without blinding ourselves too much.
This is what it looks like when you are illuminated from 20 meters with the WILD 1. The WILD 1 also handles light from you fairly well, but if you're looking for a light that is always brighter than that of the other person, you need something more powerful. These lights, however, are larger, heavier, and not as compact. As mentioned, there are many lights and each has its own specific use cases.
The INFORCE WILD 1 is a pistol light, so we have refrained from testing it further than 50 meters, as realistically a shot over 50 meters with a pistol in poor light is unlikely in our opinion.
CONCLUSION: The WILD 1 from INFORCE is a solid, compact pistol light. For those who carry their weapon concealed and still want or need a light with them, the WILD 1 is a good choice. Those who openly carry their weapon in a holster can take it without hesitation, unless more brightness is required, then of course a different light is needed. The WILD 2 would be suitable here. In our opinion, the WILD 1 is a good choice for anyone looking for a "No Bullshit" pistol light that is lightweight, compact, and not too bright.
The INFORCE WILD 1 is available at ARMAMAT for 213.90 euros in Black.
