The Retention Roto Holster from IMI DEFENSE is basically a carrying platform made of black polymer for the most common handguns (Glock, Beretta, CZ, ..) with an included magazine holder. This combination has proven particularly effective in international service. We have used it for you in action.
The holster is primarily aimed at soldiers who prefer a non-official holster and don't see the point in spending too much money on something that should really be provided by their employer. Contrary to common belief, it is not standard in most, including NATO armies, for every shooter to receive a Kydex holster. The military target group is easily recognized by the fact that the holster is actually designed for belts/webbing. This should be taken into account if you intend to use it primarily for civilian operations at the shooting range. In that case, it is advisable to use a wide belt to avoid too much play during the drawing process.
The weapon is secured in the same way as with the well-known BLACKHAWK! models (read: Serpa - on the right in the picture) using a locking mechanism that engages the trigger guard. The "button" for the index finger is slightly larger and positioned a bit higher, making it more comfortable and efficient.
Since the holster is not made of Kydex, it does not have adjustable drawing resistance, which is unnecessary due to the safety mechanism. However, it is adjustable in terms of drawing angle. And that by 360°. This is achieved by two serrated discs connected to each other by an Allen key. A simple and functional solution.
And IMI Defense has solved this brilliantly: The company uses standard Allen keys for attaching/adjusting, and one is always included. The necessary tool can be found in any household. No need for unnecessary, expensive special tools. That's the way it should be!
The holster is also available in another version without the built-in magazine holder - then also available for left-handed shooters.
CONCLUSION: An affordable holster that works. Nothing more, nothing less. If you don't feel like spending a lot of money on a holster, especially with the slimmed-down version, this is a good choice.
The Polymer Retention Roto Holster costs around 35,–, the Polymer Retention Roto Holster with Integrated Magazine Pouch: around 55,–. Available either directly from IMI Defense or from one of its local dealers.
