The text discusses the Kirys plate carrier from HUSAR Ltd., focusing on its innovative Kydex material and ROC closures. The article details the features and advantages of the Kirys, showcasing its modern design and functionality in tactical use.
Always the thing with names. "Kirys" sounds very cool, that's the name of the new plate carrier from HUSAR Ltd. - although new is already relative: here we have version 1.0, which has been replaced by version 2.0 in the HUSAR shop, even though the basic principle has remained the same. In German, "Kirys" is what is called "Küriss": a breastplate that only rings a bell when we think of cuirassiers, so cavalry from the past. "Kirys", on the other hand, is completely modern and we'll show you why.
The special thing about Kirys: it is a Kydex plate carrier. There are only very few of these worldwide. The pioneers in this matter are S&S Precision from the USA: with the PlateFrame - HERE in the SPARTANAT Review - they set a standard. With the PlateFrame Modular - HERE in the SPARTANAT Review - they have just revolutionized themselves.
HUSAR Ltd. is taking its own path and it's good. This is what it looks like on a person. In case you're wondering about the bright blue color: those are the full rubber training plates from Team Wendy - HERE in the SPARTANAT Review. We use them here without a "camouflaged" cover.
Let's go into detail: HUSAR Ltd., of course. Anyone who builds something as pretty as the Kirys should clearly immortalize their logo on the front of the armor. If you need more pieces of the Sceletal Carrier, you can probably also have your logo immortalized here, just talk to the manufacturer.
Beyond Kydex, the Kirys has also been a pioneer in terms of quick closures. It uses the now very common ROC closures. Here's the small one on the shoulder.
The advantage: grab and the carrier is open here.
By the way, the shoulder straps lead over the shoulder that hold the front and back together. There are shoulder pads that wrap around, with laser-cut MOLLE strips and loops for antenna or hydration tube.
On the belly, there are two large ROC closures. At least in version 1.0 - in the current 2.0 version, HUSAR Ltd. has opted for a uniformly two-row and therefore narrower cummerbund, which also uses the small ROC closure.
Another clear advantage here: Put it on and everything is open. The quick release saves you the cumbersome process of opening Velcro. Along with the shoulder solution, it's also a good ditch system for tactical emergencies.
And the closure works well once you get used to threading it.
Here's a detail of the open ROC buckle. You just need to connect the male and female parts and press, "click", then it's closed. Finding the respective counterparts is just a matter of practice.
The cummerbund from the back. Durable material like from a tarpaulin.
On the outside, there's Cordura. The wonderful Multicam Black here is actually a special edition.
