REVIEW: HUFIX wood burner

There are many stoves available for outdoor use. From gas to alcohol to wood, you can find everything. Today we want to introduce you to a collapsible wood stove, the HUFIX, in more detail: (Click on the images to enlarge)

The Hufix is made of 1 mm thick stainless steel. The stove's packed size is only 116 x 116 x 5 mm with a weight of 480 g, making it easy to store in a backpack. For size comparison, we photographed it with a regular matchbox. It can be operated using wood (small branches, twigs, etc.) as well as charcoal or briquettes. Theoretically, any non-dripping solid fuel can be used in it.

The stove is delivered in a practical jute bag, accompanied by an instruction manual. There is also sufficient tinder included as padding in the package, so nothing stands in the way of the first ignition.

Assembly is very simple. First, take the back plate and attach one of the two side walls to it. Make sure the small slot is facing forward. Then repeat the same on the other side. Now attach the bottom plate and finally insert the front plate to complete the assembly of the stove. When the stove is picked up on the sides or back, it can be easily carried. If it is ever not possible to assemble the stove, one of the smaller hooks may have bent, but this can be quickly fixed with pliers.

Next, for firing it up. First, put kindling (twigs and egg cartons) into the stove and light it. Then add small branches and then larger branches, pine cones, or briquettes. It's all very simple. More fuel can be added from the top at any time. Once the HUFIx is up and running, even wet wood can be burned.

A very nice feature is the notches on the top where tent pegs or thick wire can be inserted as a grate. After the stove has burned out, it takes 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the outside temperature, for it to cool down and be cleaned and stored.
