If we were to visit a gear manufacturer, we would probably choose Hill People Gear. This is not only because of the gear they produce, but also because of where they are located: just take a look at their Facebook page and tell us that the scenery doesn't make you longingly want to grab a backpack and set off. Hill People Gear doesn't just make military equipment, but the people from the hills (the name comes from the landscape) make stuff that is very reliable, and so their gear has gained a good reputation in the military community and has actually become a bit of a hidden gem. In Germany, you can find Hill People Gear at TACWRK. Today, we present to you the Runner's Bag.
The Runner's Bag is one of the Kit Bags from Hill People Gear. Originally designed to discreetly carry a pistol in front of the chest, but they can do more. The Runner is the urban version and is also suitable for trail runners. And this is what you get when you treat yourself to it: The bag with chest strap (left) and two Grimlocks and a guyline set with Shock Cord.
The bag is worn in front of the chest (left). This is practical when, for example, you want to have maps and a compass in front, even if you wear a backpack over it. The Runner has two compartments. One is incorporated in the front (top right), the second is the entire chest pocket itself, which you can see unzipped here (bottom right).
The comfortable back piece is made of mesh (left) and four wide straps give the bag excellent support. Also included are two Grimlocks (top right). They serve as connectors if you want to attach a backpack directly to the Runner's Bag. To prevent any dangling while running, there is a guyline set that attaches to the rig and to the belt. The connector can be clipped so that the guyline system does not need to be disassembled when laying the bag down completely.
The bag can also comfortably accommodate a handgun, and with a quick reach in and a pull on the front flap, the pistol is immediately accessible. The bag itself is just 2.5 centimeters deep and fits perfectly against the body.
CONCLUSION: The Runner's Bag from Hill People Gear is a small and very practical piece of gear. It is suitable for mountain hikers as well as trail runners, and is also practical as an improvised holster. Ultimately, it is an excellent addition for items you want to have at hand in front of your chest while wearing a large backpack on your back.
You can find the Hill People Gear Runner's Bag at TACWRK Berlin for €107.90 (excluding shipping) in the colors Foliage and Coyote.
