REVIEW: HERA Back Bag 1S

Each of us has something to carry. And so the shoulder bag or backpack is a practical companion in everyday life. The Slingbag is exactly a middle ground between the two. The HERA Back Bag 1S is one such bag. It brings with it and accommodates what you want to have with you every day.

We have slung the good piece over our shoulder. A wide strap goes over the shoulder and returns to the bag. A slingbag is a one-sided thing, which should be considered when choosing it.

And it's clingy. The narrow waist strap is needed when you're walking hurriedly through the city, so that the bag doesn't move on your back. The strap is not too long either, so better go for an apple instead of fast food, so it fits as well as possible.

The wide shoulder strap feels comfortable. It also has to bear the full load. At the top, there is MOLLE so the wearer can attach their own bag. Maybe for the phone, or to have a Snickers bar always at hand.

If you're into buckles, this is the biggest one we've come across in a while. Above it, there is a D-ring to attach a lanyard, for example.

There is the good piece: the HERA Back Bag 1S has 20 liters and is thus a good size for an urban companion. It is made of 600D nylon. And it – like the entire Gear line from HERA ARMS – only comes in black.

At the top, there is a carrying handle, so you can just take the Slingbag with you.

On the outside, there are two compartments, the top one being the smaller one. Here we have our charging cable and the quick supply of cough drops.

The larger compartment below has an outer flat compartment that can be opened with a zipper, suitable for flat items like papers.

The compartment behind that is the office. Here you can fit drink cans, and behind that an organized compartment for pens, pocket knives, and a flashlight. Keys can be hung on a lanyard.

The main compartment accommodates a smaller laptop, magazines, and books. The laptop can be inserted into the extra compartment and secured with a Velcro strap. There is also room for a sweater. On the opposite wall, there is a flat zipper pocket.

On the HERA Back Bag 1S there is also MOLLE on the sides and front. If there is not enough space, additional MOLLE pockets can be added.

If you do not want to use the HERA Back Bag 1S as a sling bag, you can use the two D-rings to attach a regular shoulder strap. How do you prefer to carry your handbag?

The back has a mesh fabric that is comfortable to wear. On the left, there is a Velcro loop that can be used to secure the bag to a belt for stability.

Here, the sling from the bag is folded together and stored in the back compartment. So, you can choose to use it as a handbag, with a handle, or with a regular strap.

By the way, the MOLLE on the upper outer pocket has Velcro on it, perfect for attaching patches.

CONCLUSION: Opinions on sling bags vary. Some love them, some hate them, almost everyone has an opinion. However, the HERA Back Bag 1S has a very practical size and is suitable for everyday use. Plus, it comes at a nice price for a practical piece of gear.
